Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc. is quietly one of the largest distributors of residential and non-residential roofing and complementary building products in North America.  The recently announced financials for the fiscal year ended September, 2013, broke company records for both annual sales as well as fourth quarter sales.  These milestones, after similar successes for the year prior.

Perhaps more remarkable, even though approximately half of this company’s sales are historically based on distribution to residential builders, the company has only experienced annual sales declines twice since the start of the recession.  One of those drops was just under a modest three percent, for 2009.  The following year saw a further drop of just over seven percent.  This came during a period when much of the nation’s residential building industry was pretty much crippled and struggling to stay afloat.

Much of Beacon’s success can be attributed to its considerable network of sites, staffed by locally based personnel.  This serves to foster communications with clientele based on real community conditions.  It also allows the company to anticipate actual client needs and speeds up transactions including sales of the above noted complementary products and services.

While Beacon headquarters remain in Peabody, MA, not far from the community in which it was originally founded, the corporate office is located in Herndon, VA.  This seems consistent with the company’s platform of serving diverse regions with a knowledgeable personal touch.
