• The Giant’s Company will open a new 50,000 sq. ft. grocery store Jenkintown, PA, next month.
• H-E-B is opening a new store in Denton, TX. Construction is expected to begin this spring.
• The Kroger Co. has named Rudy DiPietro as the new President of its Dallas Division. He succeeds Keith Shoemaker, who has retired. The grocer also announced it is adding to the duties of its Senior VP and CIO, Yael Cosset, to the additional role of Exec VP and Chief Digital Officer.
• Meijer Inc. is opening three new locations in May, in Northeast Ohio. The 159,000 sq. ft. supercenters are in Austintown, Medina and Richmond Heights.
• New Seasons Market reported it will open a new 27,000 sq. ft. store in Hillsboro, OR, next month.
• Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. is planning to open at least seven new grocery stores in Florida this year.
Retail
• American Eagle Outfitters Inc. reported it plans to remodel between 90 and 100 stores in 2025.
• Best Buy Canada Ltd. has named Mat Povse as its new President.
• Build-A-Bear Workshop, Inc. plans to open a new multi-level location in Orlando, FL, in the first half of 2026.
• The Children’s Place Retail Stores Inc. announced the appointment of John Szczepanski as CFO. Kristin Clifford was named Senior VP Sourcing. Smeeta Khetarpaul was named Senior VP Marketing.
• Dollar General Corp. reported it plans to close 96 Dollar General stores in the first quarter of its current fiscal year. In addition, the retailer will close 45 Popshelf stores and convert an additional six Popshelf locations to the Dollar General banner.
• Forever 21 Inc. has filed for bankruptcy protection. Liquidation sales have already started at all U.S. stores.
• Fossil Group, Inc. recently appointed Randy Greben as its new CFO.
• The National Association of Chain Drug Stores has promoted Marilyn Hunter to VP of Meetings and Conferences.
• Sherwood Lumber Corp. has appointed Michael Goodman as the company’s new President. He succeeds Andrew Goodman, who has retired.
• Tailored Brands, Inc. has announced Bob Hull is retiring from his role as Executive Chairman.
• Vince Holding Corp. has announced Yuji Okumura, current VP and Controller, will assume the role of Interim CFO.
• Wayfair Inc. announced it will open a new 150,000 sq. ft. store in Atlanta, GA, in 2026.
Restaurant
• Cava Group, Inc. has opened its first restaurant in the state of Indiana. The new 3,000 sq. ft. restaurant is in Fishers, IN.
• Foods Management Group LLC has appointed Paul Macaluso as CEO. Mike Rypka will transition to the role of Chief Innovation Officer.
• International Dairy Queen Inc. recently named Art D’Elia as COO for U.S. and Canada. He succeeds Dan Kropp, who was named Chief Supply Chain Officer and Chief Development Officer.
• Mendocino Farms reported it will open its first location in Illinois. The 4,384 sq. ft. restaurant will open in Chicago later this year.
• Smalls Sliders Franchising LLC reported that its CEO, Maria Rivera, has left the company.
• Sweetgreen, Inc. recently opened a new 2,162 sq. ft. location in Richmond, VA. It marks the chain’s 250th location nationwide.
