• Ace Hardware Corp. plans to open more than 200 new store locations by the end of this year.
• Akris has named Jimmy Yeh as CEO of the Americas. He succeeds Peter Herink, who is no longer with the company.
• Banana Republic recently opened a new 7,589 sq. ft. store location in Los Angeles, CA.
• Bliffert Lumber recently appointed Dave Dejewski as the company’s CFO.
• Blink Fitness has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and plans to close at least 30 locations.
• Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. has announced plans to build an 800,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Fort Worth, TX, in early 2026.
• Gap Inc. announced it will be changing its ticker symbol to “GAP” effective August 22.
• LL Flooring Holdings, Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and plans to close 94 of its locations.
• Mead Lumber Co. Inc. has rebranded its Thomae Lumber locations in Billings and Laurel, MT, to the Mead Lumber banner.
• Office Depot announced that D. Anthony Scaglione, Exec VP and CFO, will leave the company next month.
• Party City Holdco Inc. has named Barry Litwin as its new President and CEO.
• Pet Valu Holdings Ltd. announced Greg Ramier has joined the company as President and COO. The retailer also announced that Christine Martin-Bevilacqua, its Chief Administrative Officer, will be retiring effective October 19.
• Target Corporation has named Amy Tu as its new Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary. She will succeed Don Liu, who is retiring.
• Target Corporation is opening four new store locations this week in FL, SC, and TX.
• US LBM Holdings, LLC has named Jeff Wood as its new Senior VP of Supply Chain.
• Victoria’s Secret & Co. announced it has named Hillary Super as its new CEO.
• Wilson Lumber Co. Inc. has named Ryan McAnally as its new Marketing and Communications Manager. Sallie Keene Denton has been promoted to Marketing Specialist.
Restaurant
• Big Chicken, Shaquille O’Neal’s chicken restaurant, has hired Joshua Sims Sr. as Director of Marketing. Sims had previously served as the senior manager of advertising for rival Bojangles’.
• Chick-fil-A has named Susannah Frost as President and Cliff Robinson has been named COO.
• Chipotle has named Scott Boatwright as interim CEO following the departure of Brian Niccol’s to Starbucks. The company also announced that CFO Jack Hartung will remain with the company in a new role as President of Strategy, Finance, and Supply Chain to secure a smooth transition of power.
• Flynn Group LP has acquired 83 Wendy’s units across six states.
• KFC has added two new $5 offers as part of their plan to extend their value menu.
• McDonald’s has named Tiffanie Boyd as Global Chief People Officer.
• Performance Food Group has agreed to purchase Cheney Bros. for $2.1 billion in an all cash deal.
• Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has named Bart LaCount as Chief Marketing Officer and Matt Rubin as Chief Digital Officer.
• Shake Shack has begun using autonomous robots for customers who order delivery through Uber Eats in the L.A., California area.
• Starbucks has named Brian Niccol as CEO after parting ways with Laxman Narasimhan. CFO Rachel Ruggeri will become interim CEO until Sept. 9 when Niccol takes over. The company decided to part ways with Narasimhan following two consecutive quarters of negative same-store sales growth.
• Topgolf is currently under strategic review from their gold brand parent company Callaway. Topgolf has seen multiple quarters of same-store sales decline and could be spun off soon.
