Free Trial• Big Y Foods Inc. has promoted Megan Moriarty to Director of Meat & Seafood. She has taken over for Norm Vernadakis who has retired.

• Chevron Corp. plans to relocate its company’s headquarters to Houston, TX. The company announced Nigel Hearne, Exec VP Oil, Products & Gas, will be retiring effective Oct. 1. Rhonda Morris, VP and Chief Human Resources Officer, will also be retiring. Michelle Green will succeed Rhonda Morris at the beginning of next year. Andy Walz was appointed to President, Downstream, Midstream & Chemicals, effective Oct. 1.

• The Kroger Co. has promoted Kate Mora to President of its Mid-Atlantic Division. She succeeds Lori Raya, who is retiring.

• Mollie Stone’s Markets has promoted Elliott Stone to the position of COO. He succeeds Steve Stamos, who is retiring.

• Rosauers Supermarkets Inc. has acquired Hank’s Harvest Foods Inc. in Twisp, WA.

• Sprouts Farmers Market plans to open three new locations in Florida this year.

• Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is preparing to open its first store in Connecticut. The 92,000 sq. ft. supermarket will open in Norwalk, in summer 2025.

 

Retail

• Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. has acquired Passaic Metal and Building Supplies.

• Big Lots Stores Inc. reported it will close up to 315 of its store locations.

• CVS Health announced Brian Kane, Exec VP and President Aetna, is no longer with the company.

• Harbor Freight Tools will open five new store locations this weekend in AL, AZ, CA, CO, and SC.

• Rag & Bone recently opened a new 1,905 sq. ft. store in Charleston, SC.

• Tapestry Inc. announced Eva Erdmann has been named CEO and Brand President of Kate Spade & Company. She will join the retailer in October, and will succeed Liz Fraser, who is leaving the company.

• Under Armour Inc. has named Eric Liedtke as Exec VP of Brand Strategy. The retailer also announced its Chief Consumer Officer Jim Dausch is leaving the company at the end of August.

 

Restaurant

• Bloomin’ Brands is planning to simply their menu offerings for all of their brands as a response to a softening consumer environment.

• CosMc’s is opening a new location in San Antonio, TX. The new restaurant will be the first to feature an outdoor lobby and patio.

• Jack in the Box is planning to release a redesigned version of their app for smartphones in September.

• Noodles & Company is exploring closing 20 underperforming locations.

• Panera Bread has appointed Mark Shambura as Chief Marketing Officer.

• Portillo’s has launched their first kiosk prototype test in their Chicago locations. The company plans to expand the test to the greater Illinois are and two locations in California.

• QDOBA has announced franchise agreements with 7 franchisees to bring 39 locations to Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, New York, Illinois, Maryland, and Washington D.C.

• TGI Friday’s agreement to be acquired by UK-based Hostmore plc is currently on hold. The delay is due to Hostmore altering the agreement as the two companies work to sell their remaining corporate stores and become a fully franchised restaurant.
