• T&T Supermarket Inc. announced it plans to open a new location in Lynnwood, WA, in summer 2025.
• Trader Joe’s Co. is planning to open 24 new store locations this year, including 8 in Southern California.
Retail
• Academy Sports & Outdoors recently opened its first store in the state of Ohio. The 54,000-sq.-ft. store is located in Zanesville.
• Amazon.com Inc. has expanded its partnership with Grubhub, offering the service through its app.
• Dollar General Corp. reported it modified its plans and will open 730 new stores, remodel 1,620 stores, and relocate 85 stores this year.
• The Home Depot Inc. appointed Jordan Broggi as Exec VP of Customer Experience and President of Online. Matt Carey will retire from the position on December 31, 2024.
• Miniso USA reported it plans to open a new 5,000 sq. ft. store location this summer in New York City, NY.
• Nordstrom Inc. announced it has promoted Alexis DePree to COO.
• PVH Corp. announced it has appointed Veronica Leoni as Creative Director of Calvin Klein.
• R.P. Lumber Co. Inc. has acquired Pat Thorne Lumber Co. Inc. including its three locations in Missouri.
• Tractor Supply Co. recently opened its 500th Garden Center. The company plans to open more than 100 Garden Centers by the end of the year.
• US LBM Holdings, LLC has acquired all RAKS Building Supply locations from Do it Best Corp.
• US LBM Holdings, LLC named Russell Tiejema as Exec VP and CFO of the company.
• Walmart Stores Inc. has expanded its InHome delivery service in select areas in California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania.
Restaurant
• Blaze Pizza plans to move their headquarters from Pasadena, California to Atlanta, Georgia in September.
• Bojangles is the latest company to offer catering for all of their menu dayparts.
• Dave’s Hot Chicken is launching Dave’s Bites, the company’s first new menu offering since it was founded in 2017.
• Dunkin’ is releasing a new line of merchandise to celebrate National Doughnut Day and their partnership with Jelly Roll.
• McDonald’s has lost their Big Mac trademark in the European Union for chicken sandwiches. McDonald’s had held the trademark since 1996.
• Popeyes will be retrofitting their nationwide kitchens with 30 unique changes that will increase efficiency.
• Rubio’s Costal Grill has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company has closed 50 locations in California and is looking to sell the remainder of their restaurants.
• Starbucks has announced a delivery partnership with Grubhub that will be available nationwide by August of this year.
• Swig has named Daniel Batty as Chief Development Officer.
• US Foods has announced that it will sell their Chef’s Store concept. The concept was purchased in 2020 and the brand recently announced plans to open 5 new locations this year.
