• Tijuana Flats has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will be closing 11 stores. The filing follows the sale of the company to Flatheads LLC. The company cited previous management’s decision to expand the menu and pricing concerns as the main cause for the bankruptcy filing.
• Tropical Smoothie Café has been sold to Blackstone, a private equity firm. Details of the deal were not disclosed, yet the company has been valued at $2 billion.
• Wienerschnitzel has named Doug Koob as Chief Development Officer.
