• Applebee’s has signed a multiyear partnership with the NFL to become the official restaurant of the league.

• Dickey’s Barbecue has named Chef Matt Burton as Director of Research and Development.

• Fatburger will be opening 40 new locations within existing Round Table Pizza locations.

• Mod Pizza has named Jennifer Anderson as CMO. The company has also closed 27 locations in response to California’s AB 1228 fast-food law.

• Mountain Mike’s Pizza has promoted Carol DeNembo to Chief Marketing Officer.

• Pita Pit is rebranding all of their locations. The rebrand will modernize the restaurant design and introduce drive-thru models and a reworked menu.

• Red Lobster is considering a bankruptcy filing.

• Smashburger has signed a franchise agreement to bring two new locations to Salt Lake City, Utah.

• TGI Fridays has agreed to merge with their UK-based franchisee, Hostmore plc. The company will be traded publicly on the London Stock Exchange.  The $220 million deal will rename the company TGI Fridays plc, the company’s main operations will remain at their Dallas headquarters with CEO, Weldon Spangler, remaining at the helm.
