• American Builders Supply announced that Josh Ward has been promoted to President.
• BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. plans to open a new location in Louisville, KY, in early 2025.
• The Body Shop Inc. has closed all of its locations in the United States. The retailer has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, and will close 33 stores in Canada.
• Burlington Stores, Inc. reported it plans to open approximately 100 new stores in 2024.
• Central Valley Builders Supply recently acquired Caseywood Corporation.
• Dollar Tree Stores Inc. plans on closing approximately 600 Family Dollar Stores Inc. locations in the first half of fiscal 2024. An additional 370 Family Dollar and 30 Dollar Tree stores will close over the next several years.
• Express Inc. is no longer trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
• Kohl’s Corporation is opening 200 Babies ‘R’ Us shops inside its stores, starting in fall 2024.
• Macy’s, Inc. has appointed Michael Krans as VP of Macy’s Media Network.
• Mango Inc. plans to open 30 new stores in United States in 2024.
• Petco Health and Wellness Company, Inc. reported that its CEO, Ron Coughlin, is stepping down. R. Michael Mohan has been appointed as Interim CEO.
• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has announced that it will now carry Claire’s Holdings LLC products in over 4,400 Walgreens stores by the end of this month.
Restaurant
• &pizza has named Mike Burns as CEO, replacing founder Michael Lastoria. Burns has already overhauled the company’s website, mobile app, and POS systems.
• Captain D’s has promoted Nan Ward to COO.
• Chick-fil-A is opening their first mobile only store in New York City this month. The new store will only allow mobile pick-up orders and deliveries.
• Krystal has announced an expansion into North Carolina and will be unveiling a new design when the location opens in summer 2024. The new design will cater to on-the-go customers.
• McDonald’s is testing a larger sized burger in multiple markets. After years of seeing a premium burger fail, the brand is instead pursing a larger sized patty that it can launch globally in all locations.
• Restaurant Brands International has announced that CFO Matt Dunnigan has left the company. Sami Siddiqui has been named as the new CFO. Additionally, Jeff Klein was appointed to President of Popeyes U.S. and Canada and Thiago Santelmo was named as President of the international division.
