• United Natural Foods Inc. has appointed JJ Schlangen to President of its Central Region.

• Whole Foods Market Inc. will now offer delivery service through Instacart from its stores in Canada.

• Batteries Plus LLC announced that Joe Malmuth has been promoted to Chief Development Officer.

• Bloomingdale’s has appointed Janelle Lloyd as Fashion Director, Women’s Apparel.

• CVS Health reported it will sell all of its store locations in Puerto Rico.

• Deckers Brands announced Dave Powers will retire as President and CEO of the company on August 1. Stefano Caroti will take over at that time.

• Gap Inc. announced the appointment of Zac Posen as Exec VP, Creative Director of Gap Inc. and Chief Creative Officer of Old Navy.

• Hancock Lumber Co. Inc. reported that its Chief People Officer Wendy Scribner will retire in April. She will be succeeded by Anna Russo.

• Kodiak Building Partners announced Matt LaScola has been promoted to Senior VP Strategy and Real Estate. Darius McCurty has been promoted to Senior VP, Corporate Controller. Brian Huss was promoted to Senior VP, Finance and Treasurer. Monte Bride was promoted to VP Marketing.

• National Community Pharmacists Association has named Mark Ey as its new COO.

• Primark USA announced it plans to open new store locations in Woodbridge, VA, Hyattsville, MD, and Katy, TX. The retailer will also soon open its first location in Tennessee in Franklin.

• Spanx, Inc. has promoted Caroline Whitton to CEO. Jeanne Jackson was named as Executive Chair.

• Tractor Supply Co. reported it plans to open 80 new stores in 2024.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. announced Mary Langowski has been named Exec VP and President, U.S. Healthcare. The retailer also said Manmohan Mahajan has been appointed Exec VP and Global CFO. Elizabeth Burger was named Exec VP and Chief Human Resources Officer. Ornella Barra has been promoted to Exec VP and COO, International. Rick Gates, was promoted to Senior VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer. Beth Leonard was hired as Senior VP and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer. Matt D’ambrosio was appointed as Senior VP and Global Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer.

 

Restaurant

• Burger King, McDonald’s, and Pizza Hut have been purchasing crops that were procured by prison laborers who do not receive compensation. The 13th Amendment makes this transaction legal, but it is currently being challenged in federal court which could lead to these companies changing course.

• Denny’s has launched the first part of their GAIN development program aimed at providing training for new career paths for employees. The company has partnered with HBCU Oakwood University in Alabama and Bay Path University in Massachusetts to allow manager to earn college credits.

• KFC has launched a new rewards program that will allow customers to claim unique rewards and discounts on food.

• McDonald’s has completed their switch to cage-free eggs in all restaurants. The company originally pledged to complete this process by the end of 2025.

• Pizza Hut COO Chequan Lewis has exited the company.

• Whataburger opened a new 24hr location in Las Vegas in time for the Super Bowl.
