• Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. announced it has opened its first store location in Ohio.

• Publix Super Markets Inc. announced its current CEO, Todd Jones, will become the new Executive Chairman. Its current President Kevin Murphy will become CEO, and current Senior VP John Goff will take on the role of President. Ed Crenshaw will remain with the company as Chairman Emeritus. These changes will take effect January 1.

• RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. is opening the company’s first convenience store in Indiana in mid-December.

• T & T Supermarket Inc. has hired Chris Pine as Director of Real Estate.

 

Retail

• Cameron Ashley Building Products Inc. announced it is opening three new distribution centers in the next couple of months. They will be located in Chicago, IL, Greenville, SC, and Manchester, NH.

• Kohl’s Corporation announced that Dave Alves, its President and COO, has left the company.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. announced that its Chief Human Resources Officer, Holly May, is leaving the company. Sal Venegas will serve as Interim Chief Human Resources Officer.

 

Restaurant

• Chipotle is temporarily renaming one of their Kansas City locations to “Chipolte” in honor of NFL player Travis Kelce.

• McDonald’s is expanding in China after agreeing to acquire the minority ownership stake in global investment firm The Carlyle Group. The company has updated their expansion objectives in China to 10,000 restaurants by 2028.

• Papa Johns has settled a disability discrimination lawsuit for $175,000. The lawsuit was filed after an employee, who was legally blind, alleged he was fired from the company after his request to bring his service dog to the job site was denied.

• Popeyes has added chicken wings to their permanent menu.

• Potbelly has signed a 22-unit franchise agreement that will bring new restaurants to the Seattle and Tacoma areas of Washington state.

• Steak & Ale will be making their return to the restaurant industry with a new restaurant opening next spring. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in 2008 and shuttered all locations.
