• The Fresh Market Inc. has named Dave Ciesco as its new CFO. He succeeds Adrian Bartella.

• The Parker Companies is reportedly planning to open its first convenience store in Florida, in North Jacksonville.

 

Retail

• Amazon.com Inc. recently opened its first pickup location in Puerto Rico, in the city of San Juan.

• Ashley Global Retail, LLC will remodel all of its stores to reflect its new logo and name change from Ashley HomeStore to Ashley.

• Bath & Body Works has appointed Eva C. Boratto as its new CFO. She succeeds Wendy Arlin who will step down from the role.

• Casper Sleep Inc. has appointed Brad Bailey as Chief Sales Officer. In addition, Jeff Willard was named Chief Growth and Marketing Officer.

• Gap Inc. announced that it is appointing Richard Dickson as the company’s President and CEO, effective August 22, 2023. Chris Blakeslee has been named as the new President and CEO of Athleta.

• Kodiak Building Partners announced that Mark Garboski will step down from his position of COO.

• L & W Supply has named Bill Withers as Business Development Manager of its Northeast Region.

• McCoy’s Building Supply has promoted Manny Gonzalez to Regional Manager. The company also announced the retirement of Regional Manager Leroy Garza.

• Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. announced it is opening a new store concept, called PAC1980, at Mall of America in Bloomington, MN. The new 1,500 sq. ft. location is dedicated to activewear.

• Petco Health and Wellness Company, Inc. announced it will expand its partnership with Lowe’s Companies Inc. and offer its products at nearly 300 Lowe’s stores throughout the United States by the end of 2023.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. reported Monica Reed has joined the company as VP of Walgreens Health Centers Strategy and Operations.

• Walmart Stores Inc. announced Allyson Park has been named the company’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.

• West Coast Lumber Inc. has hired Jason Walsh as its new VP of Component Manufacturing.

 

Restaurant

• Boston Market is being sued by U.S. Foods for $11.3 million in unpaid bills. Boston Market has been struggling financially and their headquarters was seized for unpaid sales and payroll taxes in May of this year.

• Chick-fil-A is planning to debut two new restaurant concepts, one dedicated to drive-thru and the other for walk in orders. The first concept will open in Atlanta, and it will feature an elevated restaurant with double the kitchen capacity and four drive-thru lanes. The second concept is tailored for urban areas and will require guests to order ahead in the app and pick their order up from a counter when they arrive.

• Chipotle has become the first company to host a sweepstakes on the Threads social media platform with the launching of their National Avocado Day campaign. Threads is less than a month old and it is unclear how advertisers will leverage the new platform.

• Fazoli’s is testing AI ordering at 12 of their locations.

• Instacart has created a new division called Instacart Business that is geared towards small and medium sized businesses like restaurants. The new division easily allows restaurants to place delivery orders when they run out of particular items or experience supply chain backups.

• Maggiano’s President Steve Provost is set to retire at the end of August.

• SPB Hospitality has named Michael Casey as Chief Development Officer and Luis Haro as Senior Director of Culinary.

• Zaxby’s has named Donny Lau as Chief Financial Officer.
