• Associated Wholesale Grocers Inc. has named Derek Jones as Exec VP of Division Operations, effective July 10.
• Baldor Specialty Foods Inc. announced its President Michael Muzyk will retire at the end of 2023.
• Hy-Vee Inc. plans to open its largest ever store this week. The 135,000 sq. ft. supermarket will open in Gretna, NE.
• Pilot Flying J said it completed more than 80 remodels this year, with an additional 30 stores across 28 states expected to be remodeled by the year of the year. The company also plans to open 12 more new locations this year.
• Sprouts Farmers Markets is opening four new stores this summer. Three of the new locations will be located in Florida, and one in Colorado Springs, CO.
• T&T Supermarket Inc. is planning to open its first store in the United States. The 76,000 sq. ft. grocery store will open in Bellevue, WA, in the summer of 2024.
• United Natural Foods Inc. announced it plans to consolidate from four operating regions to three. The three new regions will be called East, Central, and West.
• Wawa Inc. plans to open its first convenience store in Alabama during the second quarter of 2024.
• WinCo Foods LLC announced it plans to build a 47,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Ellensburg, WA.
Retail
Chico’s FAS Inc. reported it is promoting David M. Oliver to Exec VP, CFO and CAO, effective June 24. Current Exec VP, CFO Patrick J. Guido has resigned from the company.
Hampton Lumber Sales Co. announced that Randy Schillinger will join the company as its new CEO, following the retirement of Steve Zika.
Koopman Lumber & Hardware has opened its first location in Cape Cod, MA. The 8,759 sq. ft. store in Dennis, MA, is the company’s 12th overall location.
L & W Supply has completed the acquisition of Killingly Building Products with locations in Dayville, CT, and Providence, RI.
McCoy’s Building Supply announced that Melanie Rae has been promoted to VP of People Development, Benefits, and Training. Brandon Bishop has been promoted to VP of Merchandising.
Nike Inc. announced that it is re-entering its partnership with Designer Brands Inc. The retailer will sell a wide variety of Nike products in its stores and digitally beginning in October. Macy’s Inc. also reported its stores and websites would resume selling Nike apparel in October.
Rite Aid Corporation has appointed Thomas Sabatino as Exec VP and Chief Legal Officer.
Stitch Fix, Inc. reported it has appointed Matt Baer as CEO, effective June 26.
