• Wakefern Food Corp. has hired Parul Aggarwal to serve as VP, Controller for Wakefern Financial Services.

• Whole Foods Market Inc. is opening its long-anticipated 47,000 sq. ft. location in Washington, DC, on June 28.

 

Retail

• At Home Group Inc. recently appointed Jeff Evans as President and Chief Merchandising Officer.

• Dollar General Corp. reported Chad Fox has been promoted to Senior VP, Chief Marketing Officer. Aaron Carlisle has been promoted to VP, Asset Protection. Amelia Kennedy has been promoted to VP, Asset Protection. Tim Bartlett has been promoted to Division VP, Store Operations, responsible for stores from Oklahoma to California. Julie Martin has been promoted to Division VP, Store Operations, responsible for regions in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Mark Person has been promoted to Division VP, Store Operations, responsible for regions in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York. Smriti Maheshwari joined the retailer as VP, Inventory and Demand Management.

• Genesco Inc. has plans to shutter more than 100 underperforming Journeys stores in its current fiscal year, up from its previous estimate of 60.

• Nike Inc. announced it will promote Heidi O’Neill to the role of President, Consumer, Product and Brand, and Craig Williams to President, Geographies and Marketplace. Other promotions include Sarah Mensah who will become President Jordan Brand, and Scott Uzzell who will become VP/GM, North America. Additionally, Andy Campion will take on a new role as Managing Director, Strategic Business Ventures.

• Vitamin Shoppe Industries has promoted Lee A. Wright to CEO and Muriel Gonzalez to President.

• Von Maur Inc. plans to open a new 90,000 sq. ft. location at West Acres Mall, in Fargo, ND.  Construction is set to begin this summer, with a scheduled opening for spring 2025.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. is laying off 504 corporate employees, which is 10% of its corporate workforce. The retailer also announced its Global Chief Communications Officer, Aaron Radelet, is leaving the company.

• BurgerFi has hired Carl Bachmann as CEO.

• California’s State Assembly has passed the Fast Food Franchisor Responsibility Act. The act would hold franchisors and franchisees jointly accountable for working conditions in restaurants. The act will now head to the California State Senate.

• Chipotle has hired Stephen Piacentini as Chief Development Officer.

• Panera Bread has launched drive-thru pickup at all of their locations.
