• Uncle Giuseppe’s Marketplace has opened a new 56,000 sq. ft. store location in Tinton Falls, NJ.
• Whole Foods Market Inc. expects to lay off hundreds of workers while it restructures the company.

• Away Luggage reported it opened a new store in San Jose, CA, this week. The retailer is also opening a location in Washington, DC, later this summer.
• Batteries Plus Bulbs reported it plans to open 40 new store locations by the end of 2023. The retailer plans to expand in South Florida and Long Island, NY, among other markets.
• Bed Bath & Beyond has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Store closing sales will begin on April 26.
• Canada Goose Inc. announced new appointments to its leadership team. The company has appointed Matt Blonder as its first ever Chief Digital Officer, Juliette Streichenberger as President International, Ana Mihaljevic as Director Global Stores, Daniel Binder as Chief Transformation Officer and Exec VP Sales, and Patrick Bourke as Senior VP Strategy and Corporate Development.
• Chanel USA announced John Galantic, President and COO, is stepping down from to pursue other career opportunities.
• Dollar General Corp. has named Kelly Dilts to the role of Senior VP, CFO, effective May 1. The company’s current President and CFO John Garratt will retain his role as President until his planned retirement on June 2.
• Ikea North America announced plans to open eight new stores and 900 pick-up locations.
• JCPenney Company, Inc. has appointed Katie Mullen as Chief Customer Officer.
• L & W Supply reported that it has acquired Old Fort Building Supply based in South Bend, IN.
