• Five Below Inc. plans to open more than 200 store locations, and remodel 400 stores in 2023.

• Forest Tek Lumber Inc. announced that Tom Allen has joined the company as its new President.

• Macy’s Inc. announced it is closing four stores this month. The retailer is closing locations at Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles, CA, at Foothills Mall in Fort Collins, CO, at Windward Center in Oahu, HI, and at Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg, MD.

• Morphe reported it is closing all its U.S. store locations. The company will sell its products on its website and at select retailers.

• Rite Aid Corporation announced its CEO, Heyward Donigan, has left the company. The retailer has appointed Elizabeth Burr as Interim CEO.

• SpartanNash Company has acquired Great Lakes Foods, an independent grocery wholesaler in the Midwest.

• Stitch Fix, Inc. announced Elizabeth Spaulding has stepped down as CEO. The company’s Founder, Katrina Lake, will serve as Interim CEO until a replacement is found.

• Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. has named Kim Adams as its first-ever VP Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Talent Acquisition.

• Vitamin Shoppe Industries announced Sharon Leite, its CEO, has left the retailer.



• Chick-fil-A is investigating reports of fraudulent activity including data bank account breaches occurring on their mobile app. Chick-fil-A is claiming that breach is not due to a compromise of their internal systems.

• Donatos Pizzeria has opened a new location in Charlotte, NC.

• Fazoli’s is planning to open five locations to Puerto Rico over the next six years.

• Huey Magoo’s has opened a new location in Charleston, SC.

• Krystal has opened a new prototype store in Center Point, AL. The new location has a smaller footprint and features double drive-thru lanes.

• Pizza Hut is bringing back ‘The Big New Yorker’ pizza that was launched 24 years ago.

• Portillo’s Hot Dogs has been performing better in their newer markets than their core Midwest market according to their CEO.

• Red Robin is putting a temporary pause on their expansion plans with Donatos. Originally Red Robin had planned to add Donatos to 150 of their locations this year, but that plan has likely been pushed back to 2024.

• Subway is exploring a potential sale with early valuations coming in above $10 billion for the sandwich chain.

• Texas Roadhouse has promoted Regina Tobin to President. Tobin has been with the company for 27 years and most recently served as Chief Learning and Culture Officer.

• Zaxby’s has named Carl Mount as Chief Supply Chain Officer.
