Supermarket, Grocery, & C-Store

• Aldi Inc. has opened seven new store locations in the past week in CA, MD, MI, MS, NJ, and SD. The grocer will open its first store in Staten Island, NY, in 2023.

• Food Lion LLC has expanded its partnership with Instacart to offer grocery delivery from more stores in Georgia and South Carolina.

• Parkland Corporation has named Donna Sanker as its new President of Parkland USA. The company also announced Ian White has been promoted to President of Parkland Canada. Ryan Krogmeier has been promoted to Senior VP Supply Chain.

• Sprouts Farmers Markets has named Alisa Gmelich as Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer.

Retail

• Advance Auto Parts Inc. reported Reuben E. Slone, Exec VP Supply Chain, will retire from the company and be succeeded by Stephen J. Szilagyi.

• Bliffert Lumber & Hardware acquired Fillinger Millwork, in Milwaukee, WI.

• Costco Wholesale Corp. reported it plans to open up to 24 stores and relocate 3 stores during the next fiscal year.

• Dollar General Corp. plans to open 300 new Popshelf stores next year. It plans to grow to about 1,000 locations across the country over the next three years and sees an opportunity to reach about 3,000 total locations at some point. The retailer is also testing mini Popshelf shops inside 40 of its Dollar General stores.

• Lids Sports Group has opened its first Lids Hat Drop store location is located in Jamaica, NY.

• LL Flooring Holdings, Inc. reported it plans to open three to four new stores in 2023.

• Nordstrom Inc. will open a new 23,000 sq. ft. Nordstrom Rack store in Pinole, CA, in fall 2023.

• Orgill Inc. announced it has hired Laura Freeman to fill the newly created position of Exec VP of Human Resources and Chief Human Resources Officer. The retailer has also announced the promotion of Chris Freader to the role of Senior VP of Retail Services. Geoff McCaslin has been promoted to Director Replenishment; Andrew Yount was promoted to Director Vendor Support; Jim Rivas was promoted to Director of Retail Technology; and Peter Kim was promoted to Director Cybersecurity. Myron Boswell will retire at the end of this year. At that time Todd Nowels will become the VP of the Northeast Region and Paul Dupont will be promoted to VP Dealer Sales, Southeast.

• Reformation recently it opened a new store location in Toronto, ON.

• RH announced it has hired Margaret Russell as Director Media.

• RH also reported it will open its first location in Europe in 2023.

• Clean Juice has hired Ashley Love as the company’s first CFO.

• Huey Magoo’s has opened a new location in Warner Robins, GA.

• Jack in the Box CFO Tim Mullany has announced that he will be leaving the company on Feb. 2nd due to personal reasons.

• Krispy Kreme has hired Jeremiah Ashukian as CFO and Executive VP, effective Jan. 9th.

• McDonald’s Corporation has signed an agreement to purchase solar power from Enel North America. McDonald’s and their logistics partners will purchase and estimated 470,00 megawatt hours of solar power per year as part of the deal.

• Taco John’s has opened a new location in Minneapolis, MN.

• Taziki’s has opened a new location in McCalla, AL.

• Zaxby’s has opened a new location in Tallahassee, FL
