• Grocery Outlet Inc. expanded its partnership with Uber Eats, bringing grocery delivery to MD, NJ, and PA.

• The Kroger Co. is opening delivery facilities in San Antonio, TX, and Oklahoma City, OK.

• Majors Management LLC has acquired K&H Truck in Gilman, IL. The acquisition represents the company’s first location in the state.

• Schnuck Markets Inc. plans to open its second Eatwell Market by Schnucks location in Chesterfield, MO, in spring 2023.

• SpartanNash Company announced its new partnership with Uber Eats to offer grocery delivery to shoppers across the Midwest.

• Weis Markets Inc. reported Maria Rizzo has been promoted to VP of Advertising and Marketing. She succeeds Ron Bonacci, who is retiring.

 

Retail

• Amazon.com Inc. said it will eliminate 10,000 corporate and technology jobs, laying off people starting this week.

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has appointed Bart Sichel as Exec VP, Chief Marketing & Customer Officer.

• The Container Store Inc. has named Stacey Shively as its new Chief Merchandising Officer. In other appointments, Dhriti Saha has been promoted to COO.

• Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. reported Chad Kessler has joined the company as Exec VP of vertical brands.

• Dillard’s Inc. will open a new, larger store to replace its existing operations at South Plains Mall in Lubbock, TX in early 2024. The new 220,000 sq. ft. location will replace the two locations Dillard’s currently occupies at the mall.

• Francesca’s Holdings Corp. recently named Teresa Baker as its new Exec VP and CFO.

• Jeld-Wen Holding Inc. announced James Armstrong has joined the company as VP Investor Relations.

• Kenneth Cole Productions has named Jed Berger as its new President.

• L & W Supply announced that it has opened its first branch in New York City.

• LL Flooring Holdings, Inc. announced that its Exec VP and CFO, Nancy Walsh, will be leaving the company.

• Maurices Inc. has opened its first three store locations dedicated to its tween brand, Evsie. The stores are in West Jordan, UT, Fargo, ND, and Boise, ID.

• New South Construction Supply announced that it has acquired Malone Steel Corporation, based in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.

• Recreational Equipment Inc. reported it will open a new store location in Bedford, NH, in fall 2023. There are other REI locations scheduled to open next year in Laguna Hills, CA, and Huntington, NY.

• Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. said it plans to close approximately 350 stores during December 2022.

• Target Corporation plans to open a series of larger-format stores that will be nearly 150,000 sq. ft. starting in 2024.

• The TJX Companies Inc. has promoted John Klinger to Exec VP, CFO effective January 29. At that time Scott Goldenberg will become Senior Exec VP Finance.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. and VillageMD announced the opening of the first Village Medical at Walgreens primary care practice in Las Vegas, NV. There are more scheduled to open in the market by the end of this year.

 

Restaurant

• Checkers has signed three multi-unit deals that will bring 40 restaurants to CA, TN, and MD.

• Chipotle has opened a new Chipotlane location in Louisville, KY.

• Chuck E. Cheese’s has debuted a new virtual restaurant brand, LankyBox, that will be preparing food in over 400 Chuck E. Cheese locations.

• Denny’s is selling 150 t-shirts on Black Friday that will have a sewn in QR code for free breakfast all year.

• Fat Brands has hired Jeremy Theisen as the company’s first Chief Growth Officer.

• Panera Bread Company is testing milkshakes at select locations in Texas. If successful, the milkshakes will debut nationwide next summer.

• PepsiCo announced that they will start advising partner restaurants on how to launch ghost kitchens and virtual brands.

• Restaurant Brands International has appointed Patrick Doyle as Executive Chairman.

• Shipley Do-Nuts has signed a franchise agreement to open three new locations in Virginia within the next year to 18 months.

• Starbucks unionized workers at 100 locations are striking during free Red Cup Day. The strike is part of an ongoing series of issues between the corporation and its increasingly unionized workforce.

• The Ruby Restaurant Group has hired Elizabeth McGee as COO.
