• Giant Food LLC has named Diane Hicks as Senior VP of Operations.
• Par Mar Stores Inc. now has locations in Maryland through the acquisition of four independent convenience stores in the Westernport area.
• Schnuck Markets Inc. has opened a new Schnucks Express location in Columbia, MO. It’s the first convenience store for the company in the state.
• Stater Bros. Holdings Inc. reported Rebecca Calvin has joined the company as Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer. She will succeed current Exec VP and Chief Marketing Officer Dennis McIntyre, who is retiring.
• Wawa Inc. announced it plans to expand into the Nashville, TN, market, with its first location slated to open in 2025.

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced that COO John Hartmann and Chief Stores Officer Gregg Melnick will be leaving the company as their roles are being eliminated. Mara Sirhal was appointed President of the company.
• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. reported it will close 150 of its store locations and is eliminating 20% of it’s corporate staff.
• Caleres has appointed Jack Calandra as Senior VP and CFO. He will succeed Ken Hannah.
• Chico’s FAS Inc. announced Leana Less has been named Senior VP of Marketing.
• Costco Wholesale Corp. announced it plans to open a store in New Zealand.
• Dollar General Corp. reported John Garratt will be promoted to President and CFO. Shweta Bhatia has joined the retailer as Senior VP of Technology Engineering. Zak Brining has been promoted to Senior VP of Corporate Store Operations. Donny Lau has been promoted to Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer. Jim Sullivan has been promoted to Senior VP of Store Operations. Rich Szellan has been promoted to Senior VP of Procurement. Dan Connow has been promoted to VP of Store Operations. Maty Kiser has joined the retailer as VP of End User Support. Matt Sikes has joined the company as VP and Chief Compliance Officer. Kevin Walker has been promoted to VP of Investor Relations.
• Dollar Tree Stores Inc. named Jeffrey A. Davis as its next CFO. He succeeds Kevin Wampler, who will remain with the company as an advisor until April 2023.
• Francesca’s Holdings Corp. appointed Mike Early as Senior VP and Chief Technology Officer. Laura Schick has joined the company as VP, E-commerce.
• Hermes USA will open its first store in Arizona. The 11,000 sq. ft. location will open at the Scottsdale Fashion Square in summer 2024.
• Von Maur Inc. reported it will open its first store in Pennsylvania in fall 2024. The retailer plans to open a two-level, 118,000 sq. ft. store in Pittsburgh.
• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has completed its previously announced acquisition of CareCentrix, an independent home care provider.

• Freddy’s Frozen Custards & Steakburgers has named Brian Wise as COO.
• Hardee’s has partnered with Southern Grist Brewing Company to launch a beer that was made with Hardee’s Made from Scratch Biscuits.
• McDonald’s Corporation’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger has spoken out against the California Fast Recovery Act, saying that it will unfairly target certain restaurant chains.
• Subway has sold out of their 10,000 Footlong Passes within the first 6 hours.
• The California Senate has passed the Fast Recovery Act and it will now be sent to the Governor’s desk for signing. The Act creates a council for fast-food companies, made up in part by fast-food employees, that will determine working conditions and pay for all fast-food employees.
