• Gerrity’s Supermarkets Inc. has joined retail grocery cooperative Wakefern Food Corp.

• The Kroger Co. has opened a new fulfillment center in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

• Loblaw Companies Limited announced it is partnering with DoorDash to make online delivery available to its customers in 30 minutes or less, beginning in August 2022.

• Publix Super Markets Inc. reported it will open its first store in Kentucky. The 55,700 sq. ft. location is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

• Stater Bros. Holdings Inc. announced Bertha Luna has been promoted to Senior VP of Retail Operations.

• Wawa Inc. plans to open 40 new convenience stores in the central Pennsylvania area.

 

Retail

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. reported its CEO and President, Mark Tritton, has left the company. Sue Gove has been appointed Interim CEO. In addition, Mara Sirhal was named Exec VP and Chief Merchandising Officer. She replaces Joe Hartsig, who is leaving the company.

• Do it Best Corp. announced that Jean Fahy has been named as Manager of Business Development.

• Dollar General Corp. announced Mark Banister was promoted to Senior VP of In-Store Experience. Johnes Battle was promoted to Senior VP of Diversity and Inclusion. Ivan Reeves was promoted to Senior VP Supply Chain Human Resources. In addition the retailer hired Allen Warch as VP and DMM Fresh. Michael Auyeung has been named VP Merchandising. Rick Channell was promoted to VP and DMM. Scott Miller was promoted to VP of Space Management.

• Dollar Tree Stores Inc. reported that COO Thomas O’Boyle, CIO Andy Paisley, Chief Strategy Officer David Jacobs and Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary William Old are no longer with the company. The retailer plans to hire new people to fill the positions.

• Five Below Inc. announced it plans to expand in New Jersey.

• Foot Locker Inc. reported it is selling its high school and college team sales business to BSN Sports.

• Gap Inc. has opened four stores near its headquarters in San Francisco, CA. Described as “laboratory” stores, the new locations are designed to enable the brands to test products and technologies.

• Hammond Lumber Company has acquired Brock’s Building Materials, in Rochester, NH.

• Kempsville Building Materials has opened a new location in Henrico, VA.

• Koopman Lumber & Hardware has acquired Boilard Lumber.

• L & W Supply has acquired American Building Materials, with locations in Wadsworth and Hebron, OH.

• Madison Reed, Inc. has appointed Brad Lande-Shannon as Chief Marketing Officer. The retailer also announced Tyler Wozny was promoted to Chief Digital Officer.

• Rocky’s Ace Hardware has named Luis Pedro as COO. Steve Poulin has been promoted to VP of Store Operations. John Falcone has been promoted to Director of Merchandising.

• Abraham & Sons Inc. has announced the retirement of George Predick and Tom Rogers, two Regional VP’s.

• Skechers USA Inc. recently opened a 22,000 sq. ft. store in Elizabeth, NJ. The location is the biggest store on the East Coast.

• Target Corporation has completed its 1,000th store remodel, featuring its latest in-store design.

• Walmart Canada announced it has launched Walmart Now. The service from Instacart allows customers to receive their orders in as soon as 30 minutes.

• Westlake Ace Hardware announced it will acquire Guerneville Fulton Ace Hardware.

 

Restaurant

• Chicken Salad Chick has signed a franchise agreement that will bring 20 new locations to Texas over the next 5 years.

• Dave & Buster’s has completed their purchase of Main Event and Chris Morris has taken over as CEO of Dave & Buster’s.

• Eggs Up Grill is planning to open three new restaurants in Atlanta, GA by the end of the year. The first location is slated to open by the end of the summer.

• Frisch’s Big Boy will now be serving Nathan’s Famous hot dogs at all locations.

• Huey Magoo’s has opened a new location in Greenville, SC.

• KFC has promoted Tarun Lal to President of U.S. Operations.

• Marco’s Pizza has opened a new location in Dundee, FL.

• McDonald’s Corporation CFO, Kevin Ozan, has been promoted to Senior Executive VP of Strategic Initiatives. Ozan is planning to retire by the middle of next year. His repaclemnt has already been named and Ian Borden has been promoted to CFO. Global Chief Supply Chain Officer, Francesca DeBiase, will be retiring on September 1st.  Marion Gross has been named as her replacement. Katie Fallon, Chief Global Impact Officer is retiring on July 15th.

• Qdoba has launched Pure Gold, a queso-themed virtual brand, in 300 locations in select markets.
