• Tops Markets LLC reported it has promoted Aaron Payne to VP of Marketing and Promotional Strategy.

• Wegmans Food Markets Inc. reported Marty Gardner will retire this month.

• Whole Foods Market Inc. plans to close stores in in Montgomery and Mobile, AL; Chicago, IL; Tarzana, CA; and Brookline, MA on May 6. Another store in Chicago is set to close in the coming months.

 

Retail

• Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. announced that it has acquired Wichita Falls Builders Wholesale.

• BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. unveiled BJ’s Market, in Warwick, RI. The smaller format store is roughly half the size of a full-sized club location. Plans call for the 43,000 sq. ft. location to officially open on May 6.

• CVS Health appointed Sree Chaguturu as Exec VP and Chief Medical Officer, and Sheryl Burke as Senior VP of Corporate Social Responsibility.

• Do it Best Corp. announced Alex Gilliom has been promoted to Category and Analytics Manager. Sarah Krey has been promoted to Merchandise Manager for Lawn & Garden. Laci Scheib has been promoted to Merchandising Manager for Farm & Ranch. Ed Somerville has been promoted to Merchandise Manager for Plumbing. Lauren Wilson has been promoted to Merchandising Pricing and Training Manager. Bob Turecki has been named Retail Project Manager.

• Macy’s Inc. and Reebok reported that starting in the spring of 2023, the department store retailer will offer Reebok sportswear and activewear for men, women and children.

• Madison Reed, Inc. plans to open 20 new store locations by the end of the year. The retailer plans to further expand in California, Chicago, New York City, South Florida, Texas and Washington, DC.

• Nation’s Best Holdings LLC has acquired Sparr Building and Farm Supply, with four locations in Florida.

• R.P. Lumber Co. Inc. announced that it has recently opened a new location in Mt. Vernon, MO.

•Torrid Holdings Inc. has named Lisa Harper as CEO. She succeeds Elizabeth Munoz, who has been appointed to the new role of Chief Creative Officer. The retailer has appointed Tanner MacDiarmid as Interim CFO, as George Wehlitz has retired.

• Victoria’s Secret & Co. has entered into its first major wholesale deal. The retailer announced approximately 120 Victoria’s Secret Beauty and Pink Beauty products are now available for sale on Amazon.com Inc.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. plans to open more than 10 primary care practices in Massachusetts in partnership with VillageMD by early next year.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. announced Linh Peters has been named Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer; Luke Rauch has been named Senior VP and Chief Merchandising Officer; and Bala Visalatha has been named Senior VP and Chief Product Officer.

 

Restaurant

• Aloha Poke has opened a new location in Atlanta, GA.

• Another Broken Egg Café has redesigned another of their locations in Raleigh, NC. The redesign is part of the company’s “New South” design that will eventually be rolled out to all locations.

• Cafe Rio has opened a new location in Buckeye, AZ.

• Chipotle is seeking to transition more of their packaging to U.S.-based suppliers.

• Dog Haus International LLC. Has signed a franchise agreement to bring 15 units to Maryland over the next 5 years.

• Huey Magoo’s has opened a new location in Kingsport, TN.

• Papa Johns plans to open 1,800 worldwide locations by the end of 2025.

• Starbucks is investing $200 million to improve productivity and wages, yet those improvements will not find their way to unionized locations.

• Simply Southern Restaurant Group LLC. has opened a new location in Little Rock, AR and the location will feature a drive-thru.

• Subway has hired Taylor Bennett as VP of Non-Traditional Development.
