Retail

• BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. will open a new store location in South Fayette Township, PA, this week.

Concord Lumber Corporation announced that it will now operate under the corporate name of Concord Building & Design Center. The Concord Lumber and Littleton Lumber brands will be named Concord Lumber & Design Center, The Kitchen Works location will become Concord Kitchen & Design Center, and Forester Moulding & Millwork will be called Concord Millwork & Design Center.

• Discount Tire Company is acquiring Tire Rack.

• Do it Best Corp. announced the promotions of Dave Grames to Warehouse Manager, Mary Hensley to Scrum Master, Sam Huff to IT Analyst, Josh Kennedy to Software Engineer, and Dan Sloat to Software Engineer. The company also announced John Furrow has joined as Credit Manager and Jen Nordmann as Operations Analyst.

• Dollar General Corp. plans to open up to 10 store locations in Mexico in 2022. The retailer is also testing an in-store Popshelf format. It has opened 14 Popshelf shops inside DG Markets and is targeting a total of approximately 1,000 Popshelf locations by the end of 2025.

• Lids Sports Group is expanding internationally with the opening of its first stores in Europe. The retailer recently opened a store in London and plans three additional locations in the U.K. this month.

• McCoy’s Building Supply has promoted Corey Elmore to Regional Manager.

• Recreational Equipment Inc. has appointed Cameron Janes to the new position of Chief Commercial Officer, effective Jan. 3.

• Shoe Carnival Inc. has acquired Shoe Station Inc., which operates 21 stores in five states.

• Sportsman’s Warehouse Holdings Inc. announced its planned merger with Bass Pro Shops was canceled.

• Tiffany & Co. has opened a new 4,000 sq. ft. location at American Dream in New Jersey.

• Tractor Supply Co. recently reached a company milestone by opening its 2,000th store location in White House, TN.

• Walmart Stores Inc. plans to open a new high-tech fulfillment center in Lebanon, TN. The 925,000 sq. ft. automated facility will be the retailer’s first fulfillment center in the state.

• Wayfair LLC plans to open three new store locations in Massachusetts next year. The retailer will open two stores under its AllModern brand and one store under its Joss & Main brand.

 

Restaurant

• Domino’s Pizza has promoted three employees to the roles of Senior VP. Kate Trumbull is Senior VP of Brand and Product Innovation, Christopher Thomas-Moore is Senior VP of Customer and Store Experience, and Juan Joachin is Senior VP of Finance.

• Fat Brands has opened a new co-branded Fatburger and Buffalo’s Express in Greenbrier, AR.

• Fazoli’s has opened a new location in McMinnville, TN.

• HOA Restaurant Group has promoted Monica Fleury to VP of Brand Marketing.

• Jack in the Box has purchased Del Taco for $575 million and the deal is expected to close early next year.

• KFC has brought back their chicken-scented firelogs for sale at Walmart.com. The company is also offering a sweepstakes that includes a two-night stay in the luxury “KFC Firelog Cabin” as the prize.

• McDonald’s will invest $250 million over the next five years in an attempt to increase the diversity of the company’s franchisees. The company will reduce upfront equity requirements and will use the investment to provide franchises additional paths to financing.

• P.F. Chang’s has opened an online retail store that will sell clothing and cookware.

• Shipley Do-Nuts has hired bob McGahan as CFO.

• Starbucks is currently facing a union vote from several stores in the buffalo area. If the vote passes they would be the first Starbucks stores to unionize.

• Teriyaki Madness has signed a franchise agreement to bring three shops to Charlotte by 2025.

• Torchy’s Tacos has partnered with DailyPay in order to offer employees on-demand pay instead of weekly paychecks.

• Zaxby’s has opened a new location in Rincon, GA.
