• Buehler’s Fresh Foods reported its Chairman, President and CEO Dan Shanahan plans to retire effective December 31.

• EG America LLC has entered into an agreement with Sprint Food Stores Inc. The company expects to acquire all 34 company-operated locations in Georgia and South Carolina.

• ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC recently opened its 1,000th store location in Vernon, AL.

• The Food Industry Association has hired Christine Pollack as VP of Government Relations and promoted Elizabeth Tansing to VP of State Government Relations.

• Harris Teeter Inc. has named Tammy DeBoer to succeed Rod Antolock as President on February 1, 2022.

• The Kroger Co. plans to offer an in-store and online assortment of home, baby and wellness products from Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. next year.

• Parkland Corporation has entered into an agreement to acquire Urbieta Oil Co. The transaction includes 94 retail locations.

• Save A Lot announced that Yellow Banana LLC has purchased four Save A Lot stores in Jacksonville, FL, and four in Dallas, TX.

• Southeastern Grocers has withdrawn plans for an initial public offering.

• SpartanNash Company announced Ileana McAlary has been hired as Senior VP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary. She is taking over from Kathleen Mahoney, who has retired.

• Beacon Roofing Supply Inc. reported that it has acquired Midway Sales & Distributing, Inc.

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. has appointed Anu Gupta to the newly created role of Chief Growth Officer. The retailer also announced Rafeh Masood has been named Chief Customer Officer.

• Build-A-Bear Workshop has hired Char Nicanor-Kimball for the newly created role of VP E-commerce and has promoted Art Huggard to the role of VP Digital Technology.

• Chain Drug Marketing Association announced Scot Fine is joining the organization as the new VP of Sales and Marketing.

• Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. will open its second Public Lands store on November 5, in Columbus, OH. The retailer will also open two new Going, Going, Gone! stores this month in Temple, AZ, and Pittsburgh, PA, and two Warehouse Sale locations in Virginia Beach, VA, and Lakewood, CA.

• Fleet Feet Inc. has acquired specialty running retailer FITniche and its three locations in the Tampa, FL, area.

• GameStop Holdings Corp. announced that Jenna Owens, COO and Exec VP, is leaving the company.

• JCPenney Company, Inc. announced it is hiring 25,000 seasonal employees.

• Nation’s Best Holdings LLC has acquired Crafty Beaver Home Centers Inc., which operates three locations in the Chicago metro market.

• New South Companies Inc. has acquired Increte of North Florida, a concrete construction material distributor and supplier.

• Nike Inc. and Dick’s Sporting Goods Inc. reported that customers can now connect their Dick’s Scorecard and Nike Membership loyalty accounts through the Dick’s mobile app.

• Parksite Inc. recently opened a new distribution facility in East Windsor, CT.

• Psycho Bunny recently opened a new store location at the Mall of America.

• US LBM Holdings, LLC has acquired BuilderUp, a building products distributor.

• Aloha Poke has signed a franchise agreement to open a new location in Atlanta, GA.

• Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon have signed an agreement to bring 10 co-branded stores to New York City over the next four years.

• Chipotle Mexican Grill is testing a new chicken product in 95 restaurants for a limited time. This is the first time the company has introduced a new chicken product in 28 years. The company is also committing to a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

• Church’s Chicken has plans to open 20 new restaurants in Canada by the end of the year and an additional 40 units next year.

• Cousins Subs have acquired six of their franchised locations.

• Dave’s Hot Chicken has promoted Jim Bitticks to President and COO.

• Denny’s is spending $65 million to on new kitchen equipment that will improve and expand their dinner menu starting late next year.

• Fat Brands has purchased Fazoli’s for $130 million in a deal that is expected to close in December.

• Golden Chick has hired Lindsey Orenstein as Director of Brand Marketing

• Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has opened a new location in Suwanee, GA.

• Jersey Mike’s has reached an agreement with Rutgers University for exclusive naming rights with Rutgers Athletics.

• McDonald’s CEO is facing public backlash after a text he sent earlier this year to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot placed blame on the parents for the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old that occurred at a McDonald’s drive thru.
