• Meijer Inc. has opened a new Rivertown Market location in downtown Detroit, MI. The 42,000 sq. ft. store is the fourth location of its kind and features fresh and prepared foods.

• National Association of Convenience Stores has named Jared Scheeler as the 2021-22 Chairman.

• Save-A-Lot Holdings, Inc. has appointed Craig Herkert as Interim CEO, after the departure of Kenneth McGrath.

• Thorntons LLC announced its President and CEO Simon Richards has left the company.

• Amazon.com Inc. announced it will open a new robotics fulfillment center and a delivery station in Indiana in 2023.

• Blain’s Farm & Fleet Inc. has plans to open two new locations in Grafton and Rhinelander, WI in the fall of 2022.

• Nordstrom Inc. announced it plans to hire 28,600 seasonal and regular employees for its Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack stores in the U.S. and Canada.

• Scotch & Soda will open two new store locations in October, in King of Prussia, PA and Charlotte, NC.

• Signet Jewelers Limited has entered into an agreement to acquire Diamonds Direct USA Inc. The transaction includes 22 store locations.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has appointed Holly May as Exec VP and Global Chief Human Resources Officer, and Anita Allemand to the newly created role of Chief Transformation and Integration Officer.

• Walmart Stores Inc. and Netflix, Inc. have teamed up to offer Netflix Hub at Walmart with music, apparel, toys and games, exclusive to Walmart.

• Checkers has become an official partner of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the current NFL season.

• CKE Restaurants Inc. has promoted John Dunion to COO. Additionally, Brian Cassidy was promoted to Senior VP of Carl’s Jr. and Todd Huetinck was promoted to Senior VP Supply Chain.

• Farmer Boys Food Inc. has hired Joe Adney to VP and Chief Marketing Officer. He will replace Larry Rusinko who has retired.

• Huey Magoo’s Restaurants LLC has opened a new location in Jacksonville Beach, FL.

• Jeremiah’s Italian Ice has opened a new location in Gainesville, FL.

• Marco’s Pizza has hired John King as Senior VP of Operations.

• McDonald’s Corporation will begin testing their McPlant plant-based burger in 8 restaurants beginning on Nov. 3rd.

• MooYah Burgers & Fries has promoted Natalie Anderson Liu to Executive VP of Brand. The company has also promoted Mike Sebazco to Executive VP of Operations.

• Mountain Mike’s Pizza has opened a new location in Napa, CA.

• Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits has announced a partnership with Megan Thee Stallion that will produce a new hot sauce and merchandise. The musician will also become a Popeyes franchisee.

• Roy Rogers Restaurants plans to open 10 new stores over the next six years in Cincinnati, OH.

• Subway has had the lawsuit brought against them regarding the false advertising of their tuna dismissed in court.

• The Toasted Yolk Café has signed a new franchise deal to bring three restaurants to Dallas, TX.
