Supermarket, Grocery, & C-Store
• 7-Eleven Inc. has completed its acquisition of Speedway LLC from Marathon Petroleum Corporation. The deal includes approximately 3,800 stores located in 36 states, and is the biggest in the history of the convenience store industry.
• Amazon.com Inc. is renaming its Amazon Go Grocery stores to “Amazon Fresh”.
• Anabi Oil is acquiring 124 Speedway convenience stores in the Midwest, Northeast, Utah and Florida from 7-Eleven Inc.
• Bodega Latina Corp. announced it plans to acquire Smart & Final Stores LLC, including 254 store locations.
• Casey’s General Stores Inc. has closed on the acquisition of Buchanan Energy, owner of Bucky’s Convenience Stores.
• CrossAmerica Partners LP has entered into an agreement to acquire 106 stores from 7-Eleven Inc.
• Jacksons Food Stores Inc. is acquiring 63 Speedway and 7-Eleven convenience stores in California, Arizona and Nevada from 7-Eleven Inc.
• Kum & Go LLC will open it’s first location in Utah, and plans to open 30 stores in the state in 2022.
• Meijer Inc. recently opened three new 155,000 sq. ft. super-centers in Ohio and Indiana. The new stores offer organic items, a full-service meat department, a pharmacy and general merchandise items.
• Performance Food Group has entered into an agreement to acquire Core-Mark Holding Co. Inc.
Retail
• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced Stacey Shively has been named Senior VP and GMM for its Home segment. The retailer also named John Barresi as Senior VP of Finance, Chief Accounting Officer, a new role for the company. Laura Crossen has been promoted to Senior VP, Tax and Finance Transformation. Susie A. Kim is now VP of Investor Relations, and Lisa Adinolfi is now VP Risk Management.
• CVS Health has named Shawn Guertin as Exec VP and CFO. He succeeds Eva Boratto, who is leaving the company.
• Floor & Decor Outlets of America reported that it is acquiring Spartan Surfaces, a distributor of commercial flooring.
• Gypsum Management & Supply, Inc. plans to acquire Westside Building Materials Corp.
• J. Crew Group Inc. has named Brendon Babenzien as its new Men’s Creative Director.
• Macy’s Inc. has begun investing in new merchandise categories including toys, health and wellness, pets and home decor.
• Ralph Lauren Corporation agreed to sell its Club Monaco Corp. chain of clothing stores to a private equity firm.
• Target Corporation announced alcohol will soon be available via order pickup at more than 1,200 store locations across the country and via same-day delivery with Shipt at more than 600 locations.
• Walmart Stores Inc. announced it plans to acquire Zeekit, a virtual fitting room company.
• Westlake Hardware Inc. recently opened its 150th store location.

• Burger King is entering the chicken sandwich wars with the Ch’King on June 3rd.
• Chipotle Mexican Grill is launching a wellness platform for employees that will provide them with access to a mental health coach.
• Church’s Chicken has promoted Russ Sumrall to Senior VP of International Strategic Development.
• Cooper’s Hawk Holding Inc. has named Beth Scott as Chief Restaurant Officer.
• Crave Hot Dogs & Barbecue has opened a new location in Auburn, CA.
• Domino’s Pizza announced that Executive VP and Chief Financial Officer Stu Levy has resigned. The company is currently seeking a replacement.
• Jack in the Box has hired Tony Darden as Senior VP and Chief Operating Officer.
• McDonald’s Corporation will be raising the average wages for employees at all company-owned locations
• MooYah Burgers & Fries has opened a new location Baton Rouge, LA. This is the brand’s second location in the area.
• Muscle Maker Inc. has purchased 13 unit poke bowl restaurant Pokemoto.
• Nothing Bundt Cakes has been purchased by private equity firm Roark Capital Group.
• Performance Food Group has entered an agreement to purchase Core-Mark Holding Company Inc. in a cash and stock acquisition.
• Simply Southern Restaurant Group LLC has signed a development deal to bring 5 locations to the Fort Myers, FL, and Naples, FL, areas.
• Slim Chickens has opened a new location in Bowling Green, KY.
• Shipley Do-Nuts has hired Clifton Rutledge as Chief Executive Officer and Hank Simpson as Chief Operating Officer.
• Twin Peaks Restaurant has opened two new locations in Mexico City. This is part of the company’s larger plans to expand internationally.
