• Meijer Inc. will be directly receiving and administering doses of COVID-19 vaccines in all six of the Midwest states it serves.
• Northgate Gonzalez Market Inc. is using its time clocks to make sure its employees and vendors are in compliance with COVID-19 health and safety policies. The grocer has deployed a thermal temperature reading and health scanning solution at its stores and distribution center.
Retail
• Amazon.com Inc. announced it will provide on-site COVID-19 vaccination events for frontline employees at its locations.
• CVS Health is now offering vaccines at certain CVS Pharmacy stores in Delaware, New Mexico and West Virginia. The retailer announced it has administered over 10 million COVID-19 vaccine doses.
• Michaels Stores Inc. is launching a test program with Instacart. The retailer will offer same-day delivery of online orders via Instacart from nearly 100 stores across Chicago, Dallas, and Washington, DC.
Restaurant
• Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has launched Wing Boss, the company’s first virtual brand. The brand currently operates out of 40 restaurants, but it will be expanding to 20 more this month.
• Long John Silver’s has partnered with Restaurant Revolution Technologies to launch their new Order One online platform. The platform will streamline all digital orders that are made from the Long John Silver’s app.
• Pizza Hut has launched a dedicated digital pickup window called the Hut Lane at 1,500 locations.
• Uno Restaurants, LLC has created an internal system that will help employees schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
• Walmart Stores Inc. is partnering with Ghost Kitchen Brands to house ghost kitchen concepts inside dozens of Walmart locations. The ghost kitchens will feature menu items from over 15 different brands and will serve as delivery hubs for third-party delivery apps.
• Whataburger is giving their general managers the title of operating partner and enhancing their compensation to six figures annually. The promotion is part of the chain’s efforts to thank workers for their service during the pandemic.
