• Fresh Thyme Market will close its last three stores in Nebraska on October 16.

• King Kullen Grocery Co. Inc. announced the promotion Joseph Brown to Exec VP. Bernard Kennedy has been elected Senior VP Corporate and Legal Affairs. Michael Simco was named VP Administration and Benefits.

• The Kroger Co. announced the retirement of Robert Clark, Senior VP of Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Enterprise Sourcing, effective February 1, 2021. He will be succeeded by Gabriel Arreaga, who has joined the company as Senior VP of Supply Chain.

• United Natural Foods Inc. announced its Chairman and CEO, Steven Spinner, plans to retire next summer.

• Vallarta Supermarkets opened its northernmost store in Madera, CA. The 60,000 sq. ft. store is the grocers 51st location.

• Wakefern Food Corp. announced Nazesh Cattelona has joined the company as Director of Diversity and Inclusion, a newly created position.

 

Retail 

• Ascena Retail Group Inc. announced it is closing 23 Justice stores in Florida, New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced Anu Gupta as its new Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer.

• Builders FirstSource has named Jim Stockman as a new Area Manager, overseeing production yards in Southern California.

• Dollar General Corp. has named Emily Taylor its new Exec VP and Chief Merchandising Officer. The retailer announced the departure of Jason Reiser, who previously held the role.

• Great Clips Inc. recently opened locations in Maine, Louisiana, and Vermont, and now has a location in all 50 states.

• The Neiman Marcus Group announced it has emerged from bankruptcy protection with a newly constituted board of directors.

• Patagonia has promoted Ryan Gellert to CEO. Jenna Johnson was promoted to Head of the Patagonia brand. Lisa Williams was promoted to Head of Innovation, Design and Merchandising.

• PVH Corp. announced that Stefan Larsson, President, will be named CEO effective February 1, 2021. He will succeed Manny Chirico, who will continue in his role as Chairman.

• Suitsupply remodeled its store in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City, adding two new additional floors and the rooftop.

• Another Broken Egg has opened a new location in Columbia, SC.

• Captain D’s has opened a new location in Mount Pleasant, TX.

• Dave’s Hot Chicken has opened a new location Los Angeles, CA.

• Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has launched their first Breast Cancer Awareness campaign. The company will donate a portion of the proceeds from their limited edition Pink Big Yellow Cup.

• Golden Chick has hired Howard terry as Chief Marketing Officer.

• Hungry Howie’s Pizza & Subs Inc. has launched their annual Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. This will be the eleventh year the chain has run the fundraising campaign.

• McDonald’s Corporation has hired Katie Beirne Fallon as the Director of the Global Impact Team. The new group will manage issues related to government relations, sustainability, and philanthropy.

• Panera Bread Company has hired Lauren Cody as Chief of Staff and Chief Customer Officer.

• Pieology Pizzeria is opening a new location in La Quinta, CA.

• Smoothie King has added a vegan friendly plant-based blended smoothie to their menu.

• Uncle Julio’s Corp has hired Dan Wheeler as Chief Marketing Officer.
