• Lidl US, LLC is acquiring six Shoppers Food & Pharmacy from United Natural Foods Inc.

• New Seasons Market has agreed to be acquired by Good Food Holdings.

• United Natural Foods Inc. has reached deals to sell 13 of its 43 Shoppers Food & Pharmacy stores to three grocery operators.

Industry Insight

• Ahold-Delhaize has announced that it will invest $480 million over the next three years to expand and upgrade its supply chain on the East Coast of the US. The retailer will acquire three distribution facilities from C&S Wholesale Grocers, lease two additional facilities, and construct two new fully-automated frozen facilities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic of the US.

• The Kroger Co. and Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. have created a group purchasing organization called the Retail Procurement Alliance.

Real Estate

• C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. is opening a new warehouse in Troutdale, OR, in summer 2020.

• H-E-B announced it will expand in the South Austin, TX, market with a $200 million investment that includes three new stores and a major remodel.

• TravelCenters of America Inc. is opening its first TA Express store in Kansas. The location is expected to open in Edgerton in mid-2020.
