• 84 Lumber Co. (49) announced that John Hay has been appointed as the new Division VP for the Mid-Atlantic region.

• American Construction Source (7) has named Tom Tolleson as its new COO.

• True Value Company (241) has promoted Jim Harrington to VP Supply Chain Operations. The company also named Lyndsi Lee to the role of VP Supply Chain.

 

Industry Insight

• Ace Hardware Corp. announced plans to expand its Wilmer, TX distribution center, more than doubling the size of the existing 450,000 sq. ft. facility.

• BlueLinx Holdings Corporation reported that it has completed the sale of former distribution facilities in Minneapolis, MN, and Des Moines, IA.

• Cameron Ashley Building Products has opened its latest location in North Las Vegas, NV. The new location will serve customers in the southern Nevada, southern California, northern Arizona, and southern Utah markets.

• Tractor Supply Company announced that its new distribution center in Frankfort, NY has achieved LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

 

Mergers and Acquisitions

• Griffin Lumber & Hardware has acquired Dodd Builders Supply in Forsyth, GA. The acquisition includes five retail locations.

 

Real Estate

• ABC Supply Co. Inc. announced it has opened a new location in East Orange, NJ.

• Ace Hardware Corp. will open new Ace Hardware stores in 11 former Orchard Supply Hardware locations in California. Nine of the stores will be owned and operated by Westlake Hardware Inc., a subsidiary of Ace Hardware Corp. The other two stores will be owned and operated by independent retailers.

• The Home Depot Inc. announced it plans to build an 800,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Plant City, FL.

McCoy’s Building Supply said it has closed its Lawton, OK, store. The company is also currently building a new store in Bay City, TX, which is scheduled to open in September 2019.

• National Lumber Co. announced a new lumberyard location in East Hartford, CT. The new location is operating under the name National Building Products due to another company operating under the name National Lumber in southern Connecticut.

• Orgill Inc. announced it will be expanding its network of distribution facilities with the addition of a 780,000 sq. ft. distribution center in Rome, NY. The company plans for the facility to be fully operational by early 2022.
