As part of our “100 Years and Counting” Milestones series, each week we will spotlight companies celebrating quarter century anniversaries up to their 100th centennial in honor of the NRA Show’s incredible 100 years of service.

1969 was an exciting year; the Public Broadcast System (PBS) launched their first show, Intel created the very first Microprocessor, the US put the first man on the moon, and several highly successful restaurant chains opened their doors for the first time. Some of the most successful are Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, Wendy’s, and Captain D’s along with two restaurants that stood out among the rest: The Habit Restaurant and Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

One leading “burger joint,” The Habit Restaurant, is doing remarkably well in 2019 with 247 locations in eleven states. This burger establishment started in California, founded by two brothers who wanted to serve food using fresh produce and with great taste. Reaping the rewards of a strong social following (63.8K Instagram followers), the Charburger is still a hot topic for fans.

The Habit Restaurant with 223 company-owned locations and 24 franchises makes this restaurant a great investment opportunity. 2018 saw a tremendous 21.24% growth rate, closing the year at $402M in sales.  By achieving results that high, it’s no wonder The Habit Restaurant was named 2019 Best Regional Fast Food by USA Today.

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, also celebrating fifty years strong, is well known for their southern style comfort foods. In honor of their half-centennial, this favorite restaurant is adding southern fried chicken to their menu, giving clients even more delicious options. A unique aspect that sets Cracker Barrel apart from its competitors is its general retail store which offers products from candy to clothing, providing its diners/shoppers with an unparalleled experience.

Over the last five years, Cracker Barrel has seen a steady increase in both sale and unit growth. CSG’s Restaurant Franchisee Premier database shows the company increased its figures by 0.47% between 2016 and 2017. The recent numbers show a 3.3% growth in revenue for the first quarter of 2019 over last year’s numbers, and year-to-date two new locations have opened their doors. Such exceptional achievement proves this fifty-year-old store can be successful for the next fifty years.
