Personnel Updates

• Hartig Drug Company Inc. (7) has named Charlie Hartig as CEO. He takes over from outgoing CEO Keith Bibelhausen.

• The Jean Coutu Group Inc. (24) announced François J. Coutu will retire as President effective May 31. Alain Champagne will succeed him.

• McKesson Corp. (41) has appointed a new CEO. Brian Tyler will be taking over the role from John Hammergren. The company also announced that Edward Mueller would be taking over its board of directors.

• Ulta Salon, Cosmetics & Fragrance, Inc. (65) has appointed David Kimbell to the role of President and Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer.

 

Mergers and Acquisitions

• Cardinal Health Inc. announced that it has acquired mscripts, a company that delivers patient adherence and engagement solutions through a mobile and web-based health management platform.

 

Industry Insight

• Associated Food Stores announced its Macey’s pharmacies will add clinical consultation services in select locations. For a small consultation fee, customers can stop by the pharmacy, fill out a questionnaire, meet with a qualified pharmacist and receive a personal treatment plan.

• The Bartell Drug Company will offer a customized medical travel plan for any destination. Its travel consultant pharmacists also can prescribe and administer travel vaccines.

• CVS Health is now offering same-day delivery nationwide. CVS will partner with Shipt, a Target company, to deliver prescriptions the same day they’re filled. The service will cost $7.99.

• McKesson Corp. announced that its Las Colinas office in Irving, TX has become its new official global corporate headquarters.

• Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. has announced the launch of its newly redesigned website, which is now equipped with enhanced features and functionality. The new mobile-first site experience incorporates Apple Pay as a new method of payment, and Sally Beauty also will allow Instagram followers to shop directly through the Instagram app.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. is teaming up with Narvar Concierge to offer FedEx OnSite services, which allows customers to drop off and pick up FedEx packages.

 

Real Estate

• Aesop USA, Inc. has opened a new store in Brooklyn, NY. It is the brand’s third store in Brooklyn.

• Genoa Healthcare opened three new pharmacies in March.  The new pharmacies are located in Lufkin, TX, Colorado Springs, CO and Williamsburg, VA.

• Hy-Vee Inc. recently opened nine Hy-Vee HealthMarket Rx locations and one Hy-Vee Pharmacy location in the Rochester, MN, area.

• Massage Envy LLC will add 70 additional franchised locations to its portfolio during the next five years in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains states. The company plans to open a new location in Wyoming, which is currently the only state without a Massage Envy franchised location.
