Lumber Liquidators is looking forward in 2019. By the end of the year, the company plans to relocate its headquarters to a 53,000 square foot facility in Henrico County, VA, vacating its current 315,000 square foot site which houses manufacturing and warehouse operations along with the company headquarters. The move reflects Lumber Liquidators shift away from manufacturing towards a focus on its retail operations and installation services.
The company recently opened a new expanded store format in Altamonte Springs, FL, a prototype which also reflects this pivot. The new store features a 7,600 square foot showroom, which itself is larger than the standard footprint of an entire Lumber Liquidators store (6,500-7,500 square feet, according to Chain Store Guide’s Home Center Operators & Hardware Chains Database). CSG projects that the company will open 20 new stores in 2019, many of which will reflect the changes seen in the Altamonte.
The new store format features expanded display space and a greater number of in-stock ready-to-purchase products. A new ProSales desk has special hours of operations and a separate entrance to cater to the trades, while expanded installation services and design solutions software target homeowners.
