Locally owned Friedman’s Home Improvement, with five locations in Northern California, made some sizable moves in the front office and in the field. Over the past few months, the company has brought in three executives and readied a new 30,000-sq-ft distribution center.
Friedman’s looked outside the industry to bring in Charley Johnson to fill the newly created role of VP Pro and Design Services. Johnson joins the company from Best Buy. Richard Morano fills another newly created position, that of VP of IT and comes from Orchard Supply. Finally, Joe Covert joined the Friedman’s team as VP of Merchandising from retailer Restoration Hardware.
December also marks Friedman’s opening of a distribution facility in Windsor, CA to serve the pros with job-site direct delivery. The company is leasing the warehouse and site space, which comes in at 3.5 acres.
