• Bonobos Inc. (57) named Micky Onvural as CEO.
• Camping World Holdings (22) announced it has promoted Brent Moody to President.
• Charming Charlie Inc. (36) announced Rob Adamek has been promoted to COO. The retailer also announced the appointment of Joy Garcia as Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer.
• JCPenney Company, Inc. (98) announced that Jeffrey Davis is resigning from his position as Exec VP and CFO. Jerry Murray, Senior VP Finance, will serve as interim CFO. The company also announced it has named Jill Soltau as CEO.
• Lululemon Athletica Inc. (87) announced the promotion of Sun Choe to the role of Chief Product Officer.
• The Neiman Marcus Group (101) announced Carrie Tharp has been promoted to Exec VP, Chief Digital Officer. The company also promoted Adam Orvos to Exec VP, CFO and COO. Tracy Preston, Senior VP, General Counsel, will expand her responsibility as Chief Compliance Officer. Darcy Penick was appointed President, Bergdorf Goodman. In addition, Stefanie Tsen was named Senior VP Omnichannel Customer Experiences.
• Recreational Equipment Inc. (86) appointed Ben Steele to the newly created position of Exec VP and Chief Customer Officer.
• Sears Holding Corporation (167) announced Eddie Lampert is stepping down as CEO. He remains Chairman. The company has appointed Mohsin Meghji as its Chief Restructuring Officer.
• Tailored Brands, Inc. (144) announced the appointment of Carrie Ask as Brand President, Men’s Wearhouse and Moores. The company also said Scott Norris will take the position of Chief Merchandising Officer for Men’s Wearhouse and Moores.
• Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. (8) announced the resignation of CEO Shannon Greene and President Mark Angus while appointing Janet Carr as its new CEO.
• Under Armour Inc. (91) has appointed Alessandro de Pestel as the company’s new Chief Marketing Officer. The company also named Ann Funai as Senior VP Engineering.
Financial Focus
• Claire’s Stores Inc. is moving forward with its reorganization strategy, and is planning an early exit from bankruptcy.
• Sears Holding Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and announced it will close 142 stores near the end of the year.
Mergers and Acquisitions
• Bare Necessities announced it is being acquired by Walmart Stores Inc.
• Michael Kors Holding Ltd. announced it will acquire Gianni Versace SpA. Once the acquisition closes, Michael Kors will change its name to Capri Holdings Ltd.
Industry Insight
• Bon-Ton Stores and its subsidiary department store chains have re-emerged online. The company is also in the process of opening new stores in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Colorado. Stores will reopen under the Bon-Ton, Carson’s, Herberger’s and the Boston Store banners. Younkers and Elder-Beerman will start out as online-only brands.
• James Avery Craftsman Inc. is preparing to open a new concept store in Houston, TX. The 5,000 sq. ft. store will feature enhanced jewelry displays and digital experiences.
• Shoe Box Inc. has announced plans to unveil its first Midwest location. The 3,500 sq. ft. unit will open at the Albertville Premium Outlets in Albertville, MN.
Real Estate
• Nordstrom Inc. has opened two more Los Angeles area locations for its Nordstrom Local format.
• Stein Mart Inc. announced it will open a new 33,600 sq. ft. store at the redeveloped Deerbrook Mall, and a 31,200 sq. ft. store at Willowbrook Town Center in the Chicago area.
• Vineyard Vines has opened a new, 1,740 sq. ft. store in at the Aventura Mall in Miami FL.
