Personnel Updates

• Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (111) announced the appointment of Gregory J. Henchel as Senior VP and General Counsel.

• L Brands, Inc. (73) announced Denise Landman, CEO of Pink Victoria’s Secret will retire at the end of this year. Amy Hauk, Head of Merchandising and Product Development at Bath & Body Works, will replace her.

• Levi Strauss & Co. (200) has promoted Marc Rosen to Exec VP and President of its newly created direct-to-consumer division. He is replacing Carrie Ask, who is leaving the company. The retailer named Liz O’Neill as Exec VP and President of Product, Innovation and Supply Chain, another newly created division. The company also promoted Jen Sey to Senior VP and Chief Marketing Officer.

• Shoe Carnival, Inc. (65) announced the appointment of Mark Worden to the newly created role of Exec VP, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer.

• Tailored Brands, Inc. (144) reported that Doug Ewert has announced his intention to retire as CEO, effective September 30, 2018. Dinesh Lathi has been appointed Executive Chairman, effective immediately. The company also announced that Bruce Thorn resigned from his position as President and COO.

 

Mergers and Acquisitions

• David’s Bridal acquired Seattle-based Blueprint Registry, an online universal gift registry that allows consumers to add gifts from any retailer.

 

Industry Insight

• L Brands, Inc. announced it would close all 23 Henri Bendel stores, and its website, after the holiday season.

• Macy’s Inc. recently announced plans to roll out a new, more experiential format within select Bloomingdale’s stores.

• New York & Company Inc. announced it is changing its name to RTW Retailwinds. The name change is expected to occur in October, and will reflect new brands the retailer is launching.

 

Real Estate

• American Eagle Outfitters Inc. plans to open 50 to 80 Aerie store locations in the next year with, including in a number of new markets.

• Eloquii Design Inc. recently opened its first Southeast location, at Dadeland Mall, in Miami, FL.

• Kendra Scott Design, Inc. has opened a new store in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood. The two-story, 1,700 sq. ft. store is the retailer’s first permanent location in New York City.

• Lands’ End Inc. recently opened its first store in New Jersey at Chimney Rock Crossing in Bridgewater.

• New York & Company Inc. opened a new 18,000 sq. ft. flagship store on State Street in Downtown Chicago.

• Sears Holdings Corporation has added an additional 46 stores to its list of closures including 33 Sears locations and 13 Kmart locations.

• Sundance Holdings Group, LLC has opened a new location at The Mall at Green Hills in Nashville, TN.

• Town Shoes Ltd. announced that it will close all its Town Shoes locations. The company operates 38 stores in Canada which are expected to close by the end of the year.

• UNTUCKit has opened its first international retail location in Toronto, Canada.
