  • General Nutrition Centers, Inc. (53) announced that Ken Martindale has been given an additional title as the company’s Chairman. He succeeds Bob Moran, who will become the company’s lead independent director.
  • McKesson Corp. (51) has named Brian Tyler as its President and COO. The company also said Nick Loporcaro, President of the U.S. Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions segment, is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
  • Planet Fitness, Inc. (33) announced that Roger Chacko has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Vitamin Shoppe Industries (69) announced that it has appointed Sharon M. Leite as CEO, effective August 27, 2018. She will also become a member of the board. The company also named David Mock as its Exec VP, Chief Merchandising and Marketing Officer.

  • Rite Aid Corporation and Albertsons LLC announced they have terminated their merger agreement.

 

Industry Insight

  • Sephora USA Inc. announced Australian beauty brand, Go-To, will launch on Sephora.com and roll out in over 400 physical stores.
  • L’Occitane Inc. opened a new store in Manhattan, NY. The location represents a new store concept where customers can also test the brand’s first virtual reality experience.

  • Genoa Healthcare has opened 12 new pharmacies in the past few months in Manchester, NH; Hammond, IN; Farmville, VA; Bowling Green, OH; Syracuse, NY; Jackson, MS; Bellingham, WA; Morristown, TN; Charlestown, MA; Dayton, TN; and Greenfield, MA.

 

Technology News

  • CVS Health has announced that its retail medicine clinic MinuteClinic will develop a new virtual healthcare platform allowing patients to access healthcare services via a mobile device, known as MinuteClinic Video Visits. So far, the service is available in nine states. Nationwide expansion is anticipated by the end of the year.
  • Raley’s Family of Fine Stores has recently launched a mobile pharmacy app. The RxRefills On-The-Go app allows customers to order prescription refills through their smartphone and receive text notifications when a script is ready and if refill is scheduled.
