• Army & Air Force Exchange Service (97) announced it has set a goal to hire 50,000 veterans and military spouses by 2020.

• Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (68) has named Eugene Castagna as President and COO. The company also announced it has promoted Susan Lattmann to Chief Administrative Officer and Robyn D’Elia was promoted to CFO and Treasurer.

• Best Buy Co. Inc. (58) announced Brian Tilzer as the new Chief Digital Officer.

• GameStop Holdings Corp. (29) named Shane Kim as its Interim CEO. Michael Mauler stepped down as CEO in May. Rob Lloyd has been promoted to COO and CFO.

• PetSmart Inc. (120) announced the appointment of James K. Symancyk as CEO.

• Target Corporation (455) named William J. Foudy, Jr. as President, Target Sourcing Services.

• Things Remembered (25) has promoted Nelson Tejada to President and CEO of the company.

• BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. has filed for a U.S. initial public offering.

 

Industry Insight

• A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts Inc. will open a new format, to be called A.C. Moore Essentials, at Westmont Plaza, Haddon Township, NJ. The store, which will be about 12,000 sq. ft., is scheduled to open in July.  The retailer is opening 13 stores this year, including its first locations in OH, and a second small format store, in Wall, NJ.

 

Real Estate

• Amazon.com Inc. announced it will soon open Amazon Go convenience stores in San Francisco, CA, and Chicago, IL.

• Dollar General Corp. has opened its 15th distribution center. The facility is located in Jackson, GA.

• Target Corporation signed a deal for its eighth Manhattan store. The store is expected to open in 2019.

 

Technology News

• Walmart Stores Inc. announced it is launching Jetblack, a same-day delivery service where customers can place orders via text message. It has been launched in parts of New York, and the company plans to roll out to the rest of the country over time. It is available for a $50 monthly membership fee, and will offer same-day and next-day delivery at no additional cost.
