• Diplomat Pharmacy has named Dave Loschinskey as its new CIO.

• McKesson Canada announced the appointment of Dianne Carmichael as President Payer Markets and Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development.

• Rite Aid Corporation announced it has named Kermit Crawford as President and COO.  Mr. Crawford was most recently with Walgreens Boots Alliance.

• Smith Drug Company has named Joe Willaman to the newly created position of Associate VP Strategic Accounts.

Financial Focus

• Perfumania has received legal approval to move forward with its reorganization strategy. The company will continue to operate as a privately-held company, and will close underperforming stores.

Mergers and Acquisitions

• Diplomat Pharmacy has acquired 8th Day Software and Consulting.

• Metro Inc. announced a deal to acquire the Jean Coutu Group. The deal includes more than 400 Canadian drug stores and a distribution center.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance has obtained approval to acquire 1,932 Rite Aid stores. Store changes are expected be completed by spring 2018.

Industry Insight

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has announced the launch of YourGoodSkin, a skincare line developed to help prevent skin problems before they occur. The products will be available exclusively at select Walgreens stores and on Walgreens.com.

Technology News

• Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. announced plans to establish a “technology center of excellence” at its tech office in Chicago, IL. The number of employees will double from 300 to 600.
