As store-closing announcements dominate retail industry reports, At Home, the Texas-based home décor superstore with presence in 32 states, has nearly doubled its store count in the last three years. With confidence in its format, backed by 13 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth, and new investors to satisfy (the company went public last August), At Home has mapped out its eventual path to 600 stores in the US.

“New stores and new markets” is the moto, and in recent months, new markets have included Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Las Vegas. With 139 stores open for business, the company plans to open 25 or more new stores a year for the foreseeable future.

Looking at the calendar for the rest of 2017, New Jersey (Cherry Hill) gets its first At Home store in the coming months. Three new stores are slated for Michigan (Roseville, Tory and Wixom) and Texas (El Paso, Pearland and Richmond) in the fall, along with an additional store for Arizona, Arkansas and New York.
