Personnel Updates

• Fred’s Inc. has promoted Jason Jenne to Exec VP and CFO, effective immediately. Mr. Jenne succeeds outgoing CFO Rick Hans.

Mergers and Acquisitions

• Genoa, a QoL Healthcare Company announced it has acquired Medication Management Systems, enabling the introduction of its medication therapy management technology offering, Genoa Medication Management Solutions.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance and Rite Aid Corporation announced a new deal. Under the agreement, Walgreens will acquire 2,186 of Rite Aid Corporation’s stores and three of its distribution centers.

Industry Insight

• The Independent Pharmacy Cooperative announced that it has signed an agreement with U-Save Pharmacy Inc. The new partnership will bring access to The Independent Pharmacy Cooperative’s resources to all U-Save independent pharmacies.

• London Drugs Limited opened its first LDEXPRESS store. The new “grab-and-go” concept with 4,000 sq. ft. of selling space includes a full-service pharmacy, two customer service desks and full-service ship-to-store pick up.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance and Vanderbilt University Medical Center announced that a subsidiary of Vanderbilt University Medical Center will operate and provide all clinical services at 14 retail health clinics within Walgreens stores across middle Tennessee.

• Walgreens Boots Alliance announced the addition of Sleek MakeUP, one of the fastest growing mass market cosmetics brands in the U.K., to its beauty offering at more than 150 stores and on Walgreens.com.
