84 Lumber promoted Jim Barbes to VP National Sales.

Ace Hardware VP of Merchandising Frank Carroll leaves the company to become CEO of Broan-NuTone.

BMC Stock Holdings brought in Lanesha Minnix to serve as Senior VP and General Counsel effective June 1. She replaces the retiring Paul Street.

Do it Best Corp. hired Tom Andrews as a Divisional Merchandise Manager (Hand Tools, Plumbing, Cleaning, and Housewares).

Louisiana-Pacific Corp. named current COO Brad Southern as its new CEO, effective July 1. He takes over for the retiring Curt Stevens.

 

Industry Insight

Ace Hardware Corp. plans to open a new 1 million plus square foot retail support center in Fredericksburg, PA in the next two years that will replace the Prince George, VA center in addition to a number of other smaller east coast distribution facilities.

Sherwin-Williams increased its net store count by 10 locations in the first quarter of 2017.

 

Mergers and Acquisitions

ABC Supply company L&W Supply acquired Acoustical Ceiling Supply Company (LA).

Beacon Roofing Supply acquired Lowry’s Special Distribution, extending Beacon’s reach into Hawaii for the first time.

Kohl Building Products was acquired by SRS Distribution (a holding company part of the Berkshire Partners LLC portfolio). The company will keep its name, and the owners and all employees will stay on with the business.

Lowe’s Companies is acquiring Maintenance Supply Headquarters, a move to strengthen its ability to serve pro customers. The deal is expected to close in Lowe’s second quarter.

Zeeland Holdings acquired Maverick Building Systems.

 

Real Estate

84 Lumber Co. opened a new store in the greater Boston area, its second store opening of 2017.

Hardware Distribution Warehouses will move its corporate headquarters from Shreveport, LA to Marshall, TX by September, consolidating its Houston and Shreveport facilities into the new Marshall DC.

Pirch, Inc. opened its 10th showroom (Austin, TX).
