• Nordstrom is partnering with Infor to run its point of sale system in the cloud. The Infor CloudSuite Retail solution will help store associates access inventory and product information while also connecting commerce with back office systems.
• Solstice selected the ncommerce platform from Newgistics. The end-to-end digital commerce solution will assist the company in enhancing its online shopping experience.
Discount/GM
• Amazon has started its AmazonFresh Pickup grocery service as a beta test. Shoppers order and pay online and pick up from a selected Pickup location where Amazon employees load the groceries directly into the customers’ cars.
Foodservice
• Dunkin Donuts partnered with Waze, which offers a crowd-sourced traffic smartphone application allowing users to ‘order ahead’ through its navigation assistant. DD is the first restaurant to partner with Waze.
• McDonald’s Corp is beta testing mobile ordering and payment in California and Washington through the company app. The test is part of the company’s widespread initiatives for digital ordering and curbside delivery.
• Sonic created a team to assist restaurant operators with its new POS system which is based on a Micros Oracle platform. The new system replaced a 30-year old system, which presented dramatic shifts and changes to users.
Grocery/Convenience
• Delhaize America is instituting a new supply chain solution from Relex. The system will manage fresh product categories within the company facilities across its Food Lion and Hannaford store banners.
• Hy-Vee Inc. is restructuring its corporate workforce with a focus on information technology. Of 70 new jobs, 50 will be full-time, IT based.
• Smart & Final Stores has implemented the Symphony Gold omnichannel technology platform to assist with demand forecasting, inventory control and operations. The solution also features category management, a vendor portal, and store replenishment reporting.
