In preparation for this month’s publication of the 2017 Directory of Foodservice Technology, Chain Store Guide researchers spoke with 40 restaurants chains that currently use instore tabletop tablets for customer service, ordering and/or payment functions. One of the questions they discussed was the brand of tablets they employ.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the iPad topped the list. In second place was Ziosk by Tabletop Media, which recently signed a deal with Time Inc. to add its branded content (from Entertainment Weekly, People and Sports Illustrated) to its current collection of tabletop games and content on display at casual chains like Chili’s and Uno Pizzeria. Use of Presto by E La Carte was also noted by a number of chains we spoke with.
