Late last year the company stated that as of December 27, 2014, Tractor Supply Company operated 1,382 stores.  Now, the company has proudly announced the opening of its 1400^th location on February 21, 2015.  After this entire industry truly struggled during most of the past decade, this continued rate of expansion is all the more remarkable.  Even The Home Depot has reduced annual expansion numbers to single digits in recent years.  The same goes for Lowe’s, save its acquisition of the regional, smaller prototype, Orchard Supply Hardware chain in 2013.

This company defied industry norms again as it elected a woman, Cynthia Jamison, as company Chairman in late 2013.  Ms. Jamison succeeded Jim Wright, who began serving as corporate CEO in 2004 and added to that the title of Chairman of the Board in November 2007.  This industry is often termed a male dominated world.

In addition to the milestone of opening its 1,400^th store, Tractor Supply just issued typically strong, annual financial results.  For the full fiscal year, net sales increased 10.6% to $5.71 billion from $5.16 billion in fiscal 2013. Comparable store sales increased 3.8% versus a 4.8% increase in fiscal 2013.
