Have you ever walked into a restaurant and the vibe just felt a bit off?

When looking for a quick bite to eat, there are three common scenarios we have all experienced when dealing with fast casual restaurants. The first is when you walk into a restaurant and are immediately confronted with a brightly-lit menu board offering multiple items that you must quickly scan while being stared down by eager cashiers. The second is when you stand in an unorganized group of hangry people (people who get angry when they are hungry) with no sense of direction whatsoever. The third scenario is when you stand in a long, crowded line with the same hangry individuals herded along like a group of livestock.

In 2003, Jeff Sinelli created a fourth scenario based on five “Vibes” (Smile, Love, Voice, Peace, and Global) that are the heart and soul of each individual location. In addition to being CEO, he also answers to the title of Chief Vibe Officer (CVO) and continues to provide a better-sandwich shop with a distinctive emotional atmosphere.

Which Wich has surpassed all expectations not only because it offers affordable custom “wiches” (over 50 varieties) and  can be ordered via a red Sharpie and brown paper bag, but because the company’s foundation is based off those five core values – or five Vibes in this case. Which Wich has spread its positive energy across the U.S. and into four international locations (Mexico, Dubai, Panama, and United Arab Emirates).

Since a majority of the company is comprised of multi-unit franchisees, each Which Wich location plays a key role to the company’s success. Preferred locations include lifestyle and power centers, central business districts, campuses, and high-end grocery/retail anchors – basically any place that has heavy pedestrian traffic (minimum of 30,000 visits per day).

In addition, Which Wich recently added a drive-thru option as a desired real estate preference, stemming from a franchisee’s request in Marble Falls, TX. Since the installment of the drive-thru in 2013, the Marble Falls’ store has seen approximately 30% of its sales now generated by the drive-thru and the location’s online sales of 7% is about double the regional average. Two more Which Wich locations – Crystal Lake, IL and Tallahassee, FL – will now offer drive-thru.

As of May 2014, the company projects 87 openings within the next fiscal year including international locations in Bahrain, Guatemala, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Qatar. Which Wich continues to accept franchising opportunities worldwide.
