Founded almost 50 years ago, Kwik Trip is a rapidly expanding convenience store chain based in Wisconsin. It is expected to grow across the Midwest this year, with 34 new stores slated to open or under construction. According to the company, of the new stores scheduled to open in 2014, it is planning eight locations in the Twin Ports market of Minnesota. Kwik Trip will open three convenience store/gas station combos in Superior, two in Duluth, two in Hermantown, and one in Scanlon.

A unique aspect Kwik Trip is its devotion to offering compressed natural gas (CNG) at an increased number of its locations. The company opened its first CNG location in April 2012; today there are more than 20 locations offering the natural gas. Kwik Trip itself uses 50 natural gas powered vehicles in its own fleet. In addition to being locally produced, CNG is thought to be cheaper and cleaner than traditional petroleum gas.
