Retail Industry:

Aritzia will open its largest store to date, a 13,000-sq.-ft. flagship on Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Cabela’s is opening a new 100,000 sq. ft. store in Rogers, AR.
Dick’s Sporting Goods announced it opened two new stores on June 13. A store at Bloomfield Town Square, in Bloomfield, MI and a new store at Northborough Crossing, in Northborough, MA.
Hibbett Sports announced plans to build a wholesaling and logistics facility in Alabaster, AL. Construction on the new 360,000-sq.-ft. center is expected to commence in fall 2012 with the facility expected to be fully operational by fall 2014. When completed, it will replace the existing 180,000-sq.-ft. facility that the company currently leases in Birmingham.
Nordstrom said it will open a Nordstrom Rack at The Fountains at Farah, a new power and lifestyle shopping center in El Paso, TX. The store will be approximately 35,000 sq. ft. and is scheduled to open in fall 2013. Nordstrom also announced plans to open a Nordstrom Rack at Northgate Mall in Seattle, WA. The approximately 41,000 sq. ft. store is scheduled to open later this fall. 

Foodservice Industry:

Kroger Co.‘s CFO spoke at the company’s investor conference and stated that the company might actually add to its net square footage with new stores this year after years of decreasing the company’s store size.

ACG Pizza Partners LLC (dba Stevi B’s Pizza) announced the signing of an agreement to develop four Stevi B’s Pizza locations in the greater Columbus, OH, market.
Baristas Coffee Company opened its first AZ location.
Bob Evans Farms Inc. plans to remodel 150 restaurants to its “Farm-Fresh Refresh” format in its current fiscal year.
Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ’N Biscuits expects to add nine new restaurants, including seven in metro Atlanta, by the end of 2012.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is seeking locations in MT.
East Coast Wings & Grill signed a development agreement for 10 restaurants through NC and SC over the next five years.
Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill announced the company’s expansion into the Washington DC/Baltimore market. Garbanzo is planning to open five to 10 company-owned locations in this area over the next 12-24 months.
Ground Round has signed deals to open 9 more restaurants and return again to known markets in NJ, WI and MN.
Lime Fresh Mexican Grill appointed Comras Co. as its exclusive leasing agent for South FL; the company plans to open approximately 200 new locations throughout the eastern US.
Liquid Nutrition is opening six locations this summer in BC, ON, and QC.
Manny and Olga’s Pizza Systems Inc. announced the expansion of four restaurants in College Park and Rockville, MD and Brookland and H Street NE neighborhoods in Washington, DC.
MooYah Franchise plans to open 20 restaurants in 2012 in markets in FL, OK, TX, and VA.
