Golub Corporation has been family owned and operated since 1932 and is a staple company in northeastern grocery retailing. Company stores, operating under the Price Chopper name, are as large as 80,000 square feet.

The company is one of the leading grocery retailers focusing on ‘green’ energy, and has made several significant enhancements to its store fleet in 2012:

March 2012: A Price Chopper Supermarkets store that opened in Binghamton NY was built with sustainable features that comply with silver certification of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The features include skylights that let in natural light, glass doors on refrigerators and freezers, and reduced construction waste through use of precast concrete walls.

May 2012: GXT Green, a division of Global Exchange Technologies, recognized Price Chopper Supermarkets’ sustainability efforts by including the chain in its 2012 GXT Earth Day Honor Roll.

June 2012: A Price Chopper Supermarkets store in Warwick, NY received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification. The store has hot-water efficiency and reduced outdoor lighting, and nearly 25% of its building material was made from recycled material.
