Carlie C’s IGA 14 is looking for new store sites throughout its existing market of NC during the coming 18 months. The company’s stores have deli, meat and bakery departments and are usually between 24,000 sq. ft. and 45,000 sq. ft. in size in freestanding locations and strip centers.
Camellia Food Stores, Inc. is seeking sites for new locations throughout DE, VA, and MD. Its supermarkets occupy spaces of 17,000 sq. ft. to 25,000 sq. ft. in freestanding locations and power and strip centers.
Ronetco Supermarkets, Inc.’sShopRite banner is looking for new site locations throughout northwestern NJ and northeastern PA during the coming 18 months. Typical leases run 25 years with options. A vanilla shell and specific improvements are required. A land area of 10 acres is required for freestanding locations.
Weis Markets, Inc. is seeking sites for new store locations throughout MD, NJ, NY, PA and WV. The company will also consider existing or redeveloped shopping centers. A land area of seven to 10 acres is required.
Hardware & Home Center
Tractor Supply Co. has increased its estimated domestic store growth potential to 2,100 locations from a previously estimated 1,800 stores. The company stated that over the past four years, they have effectively tested and established the viability of the Tractor Supply store model in small markets. This means that the company expects to generate a desirable rate of return on investment in these markets, which opens up additional growth opportunities for Tractor Supply stores.
In working toward its expanded goal of 2,100 stores, Tractor Supply will continue to target square footage growth of approximately 8% annually.
Department Stores and Apparel
Ann Inc. will open a 5,394 sq. ft. Loft store in Fort Worth, TXin the fall.
Burlington Coat Factory will open a new flagship store in Manhattan’s Union Square this fall. The 92,000 sq. ft. location is part of a broader plan to open more than 20 new stores in 2012.
Cabela’s Inc. plans to open a store in Green Bay, WIin summer 2013. The approximately 100,000 sq. ft. store will be located in the Titletown Development area being developed in conjunction with the Green Bay Packers.
Converse Inc., a subsidiary of NIKE Inc., has opened its first mall-based location. The 4,500-sq.-ft. store is in WestfieldGarden StatePlaza in Paramus, NJ.
Dick’s Sporting Goods opened a new store in Union, NJ. The store is the company’s 487th nationwide.
DSW Inc. opened new stores in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New Jersey.
The Gymboree Corp. plans to open 105 new stores during fiscal 2012. Eighty of the new locations will operate under the company’s Crazy 8 banner.
H&M is opening a new store at Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette, IN. the company also announced it plans to open its first Latin American location in fall 2012 in Mexico City.
Intermix plans to open approximately five stores this year, and five to 10 stores in 2013. This year, the retailer plans to focus on opening U.S. locations in cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago and New York. In 2013, Intermix plans to continue to expand internationally, eyeing a second Canadian location.
Macy’s Inc. will open a Macy’s store in Sarasota, FLin fall 2014. The two-level, 160,000 sq. ft. store will be located in the new Mall at University Town Center, on which construction will begin later this year.
Michael Kors Inc. opened its first store in Beijing. The 2,400-sq.-ft. store, located in the Shin Kong Placeshopping mall, is the retailer’s largest-ever store in China.
Saks Incorporated’s Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH reopened its Anaheim, CAstore. Adjacent to Disneyland, the 26,632 square foot store is located in The Outlets at Orange.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is planning to open a location in New York City which is expected to be ready in 2013.
Darden Restaurants, Inc. announced it has entered into an area development agreement with Restaurant Operators, Inc. (ROI) to develop and operate Darden’s Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhousebrands in Puerto Rico; the new agreement calls for ROI to initially develop a minimum of three additional LongHorn and eight Olive Garden restaurants over the next five years.
Del Taco plans to open 8-10 locations in Charleston SC and is seeking qualified franchisees.
Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants is seeking franchisees for GA, IN, NV, WA and WI.
Dunkin’ Donuts announced three franchise agreements for 25 restaurants in San Antonio and Houston TX over the next six years.
GB Restaurants Inc. owners Glenn and Tina Beattie announced an agreement to open more than 20 Corner Bakery Caférestaurants in CT and RI in coming years.
Lube Holdings (dba Quaker Steak & Lube) announced an area development agreement for three restaurants in the Philadelphia market; the first is expected to open in 2013.
Moe’s Southwest Grill has signed a deal that will bring an additional 25 restaurants to the Washington, D.C., metro area over the next six years.
Panera plans to add drive-through windows to about 80 new or retrofitted stores this year; drive-throughs are a factor for new sites.
