Walgreens and Miami Beach, FL-based Car Charging Group Inc. have announced an expansion plan for electric vehicle charging services to 13 Walgreens locations in Tampa, St. Petersburg as well as in Orlando. Car Charging Group stated that the exact locations of the new stations have yet to be identified, according to a company spokesperson. The partnership follows an increased focus by retail drug giant Walgreens to focus on green technologies at its stores.
In order for customers to use these new charging stations, they will have to register with CarCharging.com to obtain an RFID keychain card. The card allows purchasing of charging time, and customers can also pay with credit cards. Currently, Walgreens has six locations utilizing charging across Tampa Bay:
