Harp’s Food Stores plans to use NCR’s RealPOS 60 checkout technology in all new stores, and will replace checkout equipment at 10 existing Harp’s stores. The system has been pre-integrated and tested with the grocery’s existing point-of-sale software, NCR Advanced Checkout Solution. In addition to the POS terminals, NCR will supply Harp’s stores with the NCR RealPOS DynaKey, NCR RealPOS Cordless Handheld Imager, and the NCR RealPOS Multifunction Printer.

Home Depot, following a successful 51-store pilot program, will roll out PayPal’s mobile payment option chainwide to 2,000 stores by the end of March 2012.

Lord & Taylor is deploying handheld RFID readers from Motorola Solutions in its stores to maintain accurate inventory levels and prevent out-of-stock situations.

Neiman Marcussaid that it is testing a new iPhone-only app in four stores. The app allows customers to interact directly with their sales associates.

has announced an investment of $1 billion over the next five years to support its e-commerce infrastructure.
Urban Outfitters has updated to the 4.0 Island Pacific Merchandising software.
Foodservice

Darden Restaurants is launching a multi-year program to bring the technology used at its casual-dining concepts onto a single digital platform. The overhaul will bring Darden’s Red Lobster, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse brands onto a shared digital platform with its Capital Grille, Seasons 52, Bahama Breeze and Eddie V’s brands.
The overhaul includes reservations systems and initial applications such as Enterprise To Go!, WebAhead/TextAhead, e-gift cards and targeted marketing programs, and could also include loyalty programs in the future.

Friendly’s Ice Cream
has expanded its partnership with Micros by adding to its technology solution set of online ordering and guest loyalty program. To support its initiative of adding to its customer base and retaining current customers, Friendly’s will deploy Micros webOrdering and Micros iCare Customer Relationship Management solutions.

Papa Gino’s
has converted 113 D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches restaurant locations to the SpeedLine POS Software. The company selected SpeedLine POS to replace existing POS software in a total of 320 locations.
Wendy’s plans to finish a long-overdue upgrade to the POS systems in all its restaurants by June 2012.
